Please comment on your own system/testimonials
that are 140db+ and very accurate. I need inspiration
please
If you want a loud and good sounding system Id recommend either a sealed box and a crap load of power or go with a nice ported box(custom) and a good sub that can hit the lows you want and the highs. if your looking for 140 dbs loud , than ya cant skimp out on a good box
What r we working with?

currently using one JL audio 12w6v2 powered by
a Ti 600.2 at 2 ohms bridged.
I completed an spl box last weekend that hits the low lows
very well, but overall I think it sounds like donkey...it's 3.5 ft2 tuned
to about 35Hz. I have another ported box and a sealed box both built
to JL specs per the manual
also have what's listed below plus some old ss reference and
older fosgate dsm gear.
mids and highs = alpine 6.5 coax type s (x4)
^powered by Ti. 500.4
1- Zx 400 Ti
1- Ti 600.2
1- Ti 500.4 (resurrected by valeks1)
2- Ti 500.4
2- Ti 1000.2
2-Ti RMD, Lpl, PG 1/0 Ga
Ti 6.5 comps, Ti 5x7 coaxials

i never metered it. I have the w6.
thought about adding another 12w6v2 and running the
pair off a Ti 1000.2 ?? any thoughts on this route? It would
be a 4 ohm load on the amp.

it would work well- not sure if your going to hit 140 with it- but you know that is just a number, and how often, or how long are you going to be listening to it that loud- the 6 is a very nice driver, pretty good mix of spl/sq

This hits above 140 and sounds very clean- costs a fortune in wire and interconnects though-
Seriously with so much gear it would be a total nightmare to tune if not near impossible. Being driver alignment/psychoacoustics with also problems of multiple drivers of the same and of different sizes playing the same frequencies. It maybe loud but I doubt its SQ.

Haven't you read our tutorial on how to use a meter to tune a system?! IT is super easy to where anyone can do it, just make a couple calculations and dial it in and BAM your system is now perfect!
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
Still, an impressive list of goodies w/the Quarts and JL doesn't mean it'll sound good. 75% of it as we all know is INSTALL, INSTALL, INSTALL.
I run a 3-way and even w/the steps noted, it's a nightmare to tune. One day it sounds great and others ??? I will try a few more things, like building my own passive xover for the 3 1/2" - 1" and another mid (Focal- sorry Brian). Sealed pods for the mids, the list keeps growing.
I'm in the same boat, want the 140 mark, BUT, I want SQ first and foremost. The subs I have are very capable of doing it, TREO SSI 12"s, they just need a pinch more power and a bigger box which I don't have room for.
"ZPA's will have the same sound essentially as you get from the MS, they just feature a bigger shinier set of balls."
Doh i gotta chime in on this and let my colors show
Image Dynamics UlraPro Comp horns
(on any amp you have that would do around 5o watts at 8 ohm)
Image Dynamics XS65
(on any amp you have that would do 100-200watts at 4ohm)
Image Dynamics IDmax or preferably 2x IDQ12v2
The horns and mids could be run off a 4 channel amp and if you are trying to save some money the CX series mids come in 2ohm so you could get more watts for the speaker that covers most of the frequencies. If you are a serious bass head there is an IDMax 15 due out this year, or you could go with a pair of IDQ15's I love bass but i dont see the need.

Lol we all know you hate the tutorial. What do you have against people knowing the limit of their amp. Not everyone can hear .001% distortion from space
Just get big subs throw lots of power at them and TUNE THE BOX PROPERLY and there inst any reason it can’t get loud. Install has a lot to do with dbs as well. I've seen a car get a 3db gain from removing the rear fill. There are many other factors but 140 db should be attainable.
Subs that are louder than the rest of your system is not "sq" as ideal sq should be least amount of HD or any distortion for that matter and for it to play as flat as possible from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. With that said though everyone has their own preferences....so do what makes you happy if you like a +3db in the 35hz to 80hz range go for it.
Can one send others to war if hes not willing to go himself?

I concur there is zero percent chance you can get everythign even close to playing in phase. ZERO. Maybe jbl ms-8 could do it but doubtful.

very good info for most! Im trying for 130-135db with Joerg focal spl sub in a 50 l sealed with all my focal gear! now Stryker im sure your hitting a mean 140 plus plus and you love the way your sounds
Im a fan with sealed just me but i know you can get another 3-6 db but to me its not as tight. Stryker is having that problem going to his 2 15" pg xmax tuning can be a pain also.
My wife listens to every thing Mj to ice cube to opera and we found she like the sealed best with a lpl if needed
most of my gear is gone :liar:

All this talk about SPL and SQ I can't wait until I am able to get my stereo's installed in both my trucks. Seriously I am drooling just thinking about them I have the alpine 9887 for 1 truck and if that works out well I will likely get another for the Canyon.

3 M100 for subs

coustic XM5e 3 way crossover/remote bass level controller (very awesome old school piece probably best thing coustic ever made)
15 farad powercore

RMD hardwired in
200 amp alternator
optima yellow top
kinetiks not sure which ones yet
System 2 Canyon
Alpine 7875 for starters
Orion psw300 preamp eq 9 volt output
roadster 66
LPL44
1 12" RSDC dual 4ohm

I also have 2 basscubes but don't know if I even need them.
Either system should be loud and sound pretty good.
