in my next install, if I fire the subs into the trunk, I am going to need grille's on them. I am married and thus things will be tossed into the trunk without regard for what else might also be in the trunk...

So... rather than the crap waffle grilles, will the RSD grille's fit on the RSDC subs?

I think that the RSD grills would look the best though... as long as they would actually fit without hitting.

I have the 2-piece grills from parts express on my 8" CDT's and they look nice and clean, but they wont work for a sub that has as much excursion as the RSDC, the sub hits the grill and blows the whole thing apart - dont ask how I know that for sure.

So what do you all think?

Its either this or I turn the subs around and fire them into the cabin, then mount the Roadster on the trunk side.

nope, they dont unles you construct a way to raise them. the rsdc's have big ol overrolled surrounds. i would expect to have to raise any grill you buy. its just the shape it is

I've coaxed it to fit by using a dremel to trim down the edge... but that was a 10", not sure about the 12.

id like to know this also, have seen stuff to close already...

have you considered making your own? I did in my stang by just using 2 pieces of stainless metal strap that I made a couple of gentle bends in so that they would clear the woofers. I mounted them down, and then cut the carpet out from under them so that they are nearly flush with the carpet and then bend around the speaker.

I have also seen some people get creative at home depot with some of the more modern/sleek drawer pulls or towel racks. When they are mounted above a speaker it is kinda hard to recognize what they really are.

Have you thought about just making a 1/8th inch or 1/4 inch spacer out of MDF and painting it black so its not really visible I have those grilles and am going to try that with my 12" RSDC I have a jasper perfect circle jig so I can make it perfect if you want to wait until I am home this summer I can make you some also when I do mine if it works. I haven't seen my grilles yet to look at them on the sub as they arrived while I was already gone to the hospital but I should be able to make something work.

yes, but lets consider my ability to make something like a grill approximate about the same level as my 6yr old... No Skillz to pay the billz...
