I just picked up some new subs, a pair of Boston spg555's!! I was wondering what would be better to run them, a ZPA0.5V2 or a Ti1200.1 ?? Man these subs are impressive, better then my JL 12w7.

very cool looking sub the better question is
have you changed the caps on both amp if you go the zpa do you have a xover and line driver?
how many do you have? what ohms are they are they svc or double?

I have the zpa but not the ti amp. No caps have been replaced in the amp, Should they be?. The ti1200.1 I don't have but I can get my hands on one. The subs are SVC, and could either be 2 or 4 ohm, I have extra voice coils (they are changable). Yes I have the zpaxo and line driver.
The reason I am asking this question is currently I am running a zx500v2 + zx450v2 + ZPA0.5V2. I just picked up a ti600.2 and a ti500.4 for a good price and was wondering if I should match the amps again...

on the ti and zpa amp they need to have the caps changed its only a matter of time before you have a big problem
both amp have the power you need to run the subs
I find the ti easier as it doesn't need the other items to run it
it would also match the 600.2 and 500.4
someone will say the zpa could sound better but im sure you would not hear the differnce. Also on the zpa if you are running 2 ohm you need to mod the amp...

The caps in the Ti probably don't need to be changed. Ti amps don't have cap problems like the amps before them do.
If you are changing up from a ZX500 and ZX450 to Ti600 and Ti500, you are making your stereo less powerful, but gaining reliability. The ZX amps put out more voltage than the Ti amps do (partially why the Ti are more reliable).
The ZPA would need new input caps most likely, as they are one of the more apt to catch fire amps due to cap problems.

I wasn't aware the Ti line wasn't an issues. While I am still using my octane now I also just got the caps needed to replace in it, all 20 of them........... I figure better safe then sorry.

I could be wrong, BUT the Octane is part of the ZXTi line (2x ZXTi400), which is ZX line with a different case. The Ti edition is the predecessor.
Again, I could be mistaken, but that is want I understand.

the amp of the octane le are ti400.2(black boards)not gold but the caps (stiffening rail) like thumerdome octane were form the ms amp(blue like the ms 2125 and ms2250) i would guess that is why his failed
the proto type used zx350

I have never seen a cap fail in a Ti amp, but that does not mean it won't happen. The Ti amps have a newer version of the caps, and they are not prone to failure.
In the case of the Octane, I don't know about the rail caps. I highly doubt they would fail unless they are some odd aerogel cap or something like that. I was under the impression the Octane just had a bunch of normal rail caps for a lot more capacitance.
