My wife has got an 09 saturn Vue and I am looking into installing a PG ZX450 to the factory speakers. I would like to use the factory deck also. My question in about running the wires. I'm planning on getting a NE-774V from this website: http://www.davidnavone.com/cart.asp?24&cat=7
(unless someone else has a different suggestion) There are two ways that I though I could run the wires.
One: Splice the factory harness and install the converter behind the dash and run RCA's back to the amp. Then run speaker wire back up front and splice back into the harness and use the factory wires to the speakers.
Two: Splice into the factory harness and take the radio outputs and run them back to the converter near the amp. Have the converter hooked up directly to the amp with male to male connectors. Then run speaker wires back up to the front and connect them to the factory harness that was spliced.
What do ya think? Is it cheaper to run all speaker wire or should I run some RCA's? What would be better for sound?
Thanks

Need help with installing amp and a factory deck.
i thought about doing that but they are in the doors and I think that it would be more of a hassel having to take the doors off and crap. and its going to be a four channel amp so I would have to do that to the front doors also. I just thought that it wold be easiest to splice the factory harness in one spot under the dash and be done with it. That way if I even sell the car I could reconnect the wires under the dash and be done with it.gridracer wrote:Hook up the LOC at the back of the car on the rear speakers if it has some. then run RCA's to amp from there.
Anyone else

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. It will sound slightly better but only slightly. Do you mind explaining why you want to keep stock speakers and headunit. There are still good options for Oem integration that can sound very good. Im pretty sure there are even a few people on here that have done similar things.
We don't need no stinkin' bass boost!
I figured I would gain some better sound. MAYBE 25W from a factory radio VS. 75W from a zx450. What do you think would sound better. Granted its not going to win any sound off comps. But I would think there would be at aleast some type of improvement. I am really doing this just as a little budget build. and its going in my wifes car and shes not in to anfter market decks and so forth. It has XM, and onstar so I didn't want to buy one of those 100 dollar interface things to. I don't think I am going to put a subwoofer in the car too. Is there any woofer that you guys might recommend that I could put in the stock locations of the doors? I will probaly just stick with the factory tweeters too.ttocs wrote:What are you hoping to gain from amping the stock speakers? You are not going to gain much out of it to tell you the truth.

installing a 4 channel amp to the factory speakers is only going to give a small gain in sound. The stock speakers are also not meant to handle much power. I would probably start at the top of the signal and go with a new deck and speakers first.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
