Wanna change my Kenwood Amp

Ok, it's been a long time since i've got my kenwood amp. Got it for installing a new sound system so it was ok, but when it's hot outside this amp overheat and shut itself down. I've changed the termal paste and the mica sheets but still, when too hot outside and playing loud, this thing gets too hot and shut itself. If i close the radio and open it back, it will restart for some time and do it again.
I was planning to add a fan on top of the case, but now that i want another XS124 i guess my best bet would be to change the amp to get one that would run 2 XS124 without problem.
Could someone suggest me a good amp to do so?

I've got a XENON 100.4 and 1200.1 for sale. Both are 100% functional and a 9.8 / 10.0 cosmetically with box and everything that came with them if interested?

100.4 looks like a great amp! Let me do some more reading before taking a decision, but it looks promising!
How much are you asking for it?

Works for me. Will be removing them from my car next week as I'm gonna replace them with a ZX475, Basscube and the TI1000.2 I bought from Shawn K.
Would like to get $200.00 USD + half shiping for the 100.4 and $300.00 USD + half shipping for the 1200.1. Gonna post up the for sale thread next week with pictures, so it's down to whoever wants them 1st.

that 100.4 is going to pull way more currant then your kenwood. you will have upgrade your 4awg to the back with that.
ok...just re-read that.
not trying to sabotage your sale dvnt, but those xenons are way overkill for his set up.
those xs's cant really take much more then 300 watts. and i dont know what his boss' would do on 120 watts either.
plus he would have to upgrade all his power cable.
you might look for a smaller option.

Changing the 8awg is already planned, i'm just waiting 'till we get some multibrain 0 gauge at my job to do it. Cause in industrial we mostly use big wires but single brain or 2-3 brain (don't know if that's how you say it, but in french it's brin...)
Next job we get to use this i will be able to get the extra to do the job, instead of sending it to scrap place. If i get it right, the 100.4 is pulling 200w rms in bridged mode at 4ohm, so if i was to power 2 XS124, that is 200w to each right?

if you use it like that, then you should be set

That's the current idea, i'm still in the process of finding another XS124 tho...
The kenwood amp will probably go in my girlfriend's car, with one of the xs104dvc i bought sooner last week

You could even look at some of the older stuff. I just picked up an XS2500 (250x2 RMS) for CHEAP (well under $100, hell I picked up a tantrum 500.4 the same day as the XS2500 and got both amps for a total of $100 off craigslist)!!! and this amp kicks ass! I am super pleased with it. If all you are looking for is about 200RMS to each sub, look into the xs and the tantrum lines. Older but great stuff. There are DEALS to be had if you look at the right places. Ebay has some good tantrum stuff for fairly cheap right now and an XS2500. If I hadn't blown my wad on amps earlier in the week, I probably would be bidding on some of the tantrum stuff on ebay. If you keep your eyes open and are willing to wait, you can get some good stuff for cheap, that's for damn sure!
Of course picking up the xenon amps would be killer and your would probably be MORE than happy with them! Just my .02 cents

Thanks for the input!
But the XS2500 is rated 125w x 2 @ 4ohm, the 250w is at 2ohm and my xs124 is 4ohm.
I will probably go with the X100.4, just waiting for this Rt.66 or this check from the governement for tax to come in...

If you get two of them in 4ohm, wire it for a 2ohm load and BAM!! 500watts to both subs

Granted it's not recommended (it will get hot, technically the XS is not 2 ohm bridge stable)... Just saying
The X100.4 will be an excellent amp, just throwing out different ideas...
Even the tantrum 600.4 is 300x2 @4ohm, and you can get one of those for about $100, half the price of the xenon.
There are lots of options for you. How much you looking to spend, and how high of quality do you want? The xenon is higher quality amp, but that comes at a price, obviously.
There is also a ti400.2 that was listed on here just a bit ago for $125 I believe, and that's a great amp. 100x2 @4ohm, 200x2 @2ohms, and 400x1 @4ohm. I would get that in a heartbeat if I had the money. In fact is hes offereing 2 ti400.2 and an RMD for $275. I would buy that. That would ROCK the crap out of your 2 subs! Linky:

I'd say a budget of 200-250$ would be the max for now. I prefer buying something that will be more flexible if i decide to change my setup later. That's the main reason behind the X100.4

thats not quite how it works i'm afraid (that would be rad)
the subs share the 500 watts, and also the xs2500 is probibly making less the 500 watts becasue it getting hotter faster.
the way to go is get a 4channel, and duel bridge it (like the xenon 100.4, xs4600, tantrum 600.4 etc)
or find a newer monoblock that is made for 2ohms (most are)
the rsd's can be found for cheap! even the ryval 8001 is a decent non expensive choice

My choice is made, i've been reading nothing but positive review about the Xenon 100.4 amplifier, so i'm going for this one 99% sure!
I have a good idea of how i'm gonna wire everything up, if it all goes well it almost no wires should be visible, and it should be clean as hell! Will have to change my current distribution block too, since it's made for 8gauge cable, and the ones i saw from PG are truly amasing, so might as well get one!

You are right, and I just said that to throw out more options, and that is also why I recommended that he not do that. My point was that you can find used goos stuff that you can make work for CHEAP, and to keep your mid open to different ideas when looking for good stuff. That's all. Since the OP has seemed to choose a good amp anyways, it's a moot point
