EQ 232

Hi everyone.

Got a quick question about my 232. Manual says you can run balanced and RCA simultaneously and have 2 sources.

What I want to do is run balanced into it for my fronts from the tBat and RCA from sub out on head unit to retain sub control.

Is this possible or do I have to sacrifice the sub control on my head unit and daisy chain the signal?

Thanks for any input. (pardon the pun)

If I am understanding you correctly, you cannot do what you want to do. You would need a pair of EQ232s, or a downstream crossover with sub level control.

To clarify I want to run front RCAs to tBat to Eq ( balanced)
Sub RCA from Head unit (Pioneer AvicHD3) to EQ ( RCA input)

This is instead of daisy chaining from one amp to the next or running sub channel straight to Tantrum 1200.1

Then I still loose head unit sub control.

At this point I may see how it sounds just running the front stage ( HAT 841 set) off the EQ and run the signal for the sub direct from head unit to amp.

Amps are Tantrum 600.4 , 1200.1 and may add ZX450

Sub is 13W7

The manual says the inputs will be summed...

Thats why I thought it would work using balanced and RCA inputs.
Issue is that amps then both get full range input.

Would it be completely terrible to run the front stage though the EQ and the sub RCA straight to the amp from the headunit so bypass the EQ?

Probably 85% or more of the audible range will be from the front stage anyway considering I am running a 3 way setup.

If you don't need the EQ down at the sub range and you've got some other kind of xover happening for the subs (in the amp?) then I don't see why this wouldn't be ok.

You could do that and use the crossover & sub control in your headunit then for sub duties. Your headunit may also have an eq (graphic or parametric) which will allow limited eq on the subs as well.

I would just run the sub level to your amp and nix the eq for the sub. If you run both intputs into the eq, you still only get one output and would still loose the decks subwoofer output.

Sweet. I will bypass the EQ for the sub. Thanks for confirming what I suspected. :)
