I would say as long as you are very careful you should be fine. It is very easy to hear mechanical limits of a driver but very difficult to hear mechanical limits of an amp. If you can set your gains safely you will enjoy the sub for a long time. This is where setting your gains with a multimeter or O-scope is really needed.

would that be similar to doing a dc off set test?an old school pheonix gold tech told me my 2125 needs a dc off set test just not shure of the best way to do it.

not the same thing but never a bad idea if you think you are getting some distortion at low levels.

lol for real   I didnt know of such a contest. That kicks ass. Well I would not expect to hear a 60hz test tone on anything smaller than buff 6.5. I meen not with any transience anyways. Put on some headphones and try again sir and quit bumpin your laptop speakers

yeah some times i fear watching youtube vids where they shake the car apart and bust the windows out these speakers would blow but they still work.they must have criptonium plated kapton voice coils in em.

i think i just found out why this dyn sub doesnt handel as much power as it seems like it should.its because the voice coil is in direct contact with the cone and the cone would most likely melt if the voice coil gets to hot.the reason im saying this is because i touched the cone after playing it for a while and it was more than just warm.this is similar to what was happening when the zero point tweeters would go up in smoke the dome is made out of the same material as these subs.im thinking of just running my little sapphire 3.0 on it as it would only have to dissapate 100 exta rms of power off.
