PG Ti 500.4
Focal Utopia 6w comps 250W
Vibe 12" sub 1500W with built in monobox 800w amp
Hey, Im a newb to Installing amp's and speaker's

i have a problem maby you could help.
1. I recently bought all the above gear off ebay.
2. I installed the comps and the pg amp using 8 awg power wire.
3. The last item i bought was the sub this is where the problem arose.
The (vibe sub/amp) needs power to run it and i cant be arsed to run 2 power wires or a dist block to it because i will need to upgrade to 4awg.
Is there a way of running this sub using the pg amp which is already installed. If so how would i do the cableing and what setting would i need the amp to be on ( I havent a clue what low/high pass it atm im just picking up things as i go). I figure its got something to do with that, just have no idea how to set them.
I currently have the focals running just from the rca front.
Do i need front and back rca's from the HU to the pg amp

.
Sorry for being a newb lol i really should of researched this a little more. I thought it would be simple lol. how wrong was i.
I want a set-up just for SQ btw.
Many thank's
Tony

not to be unhelpful but Utopia mid's on your first install? All I have to say is be careful, they are not cheap to replace.
On the helpful tip you would have to disconnect the subwoofer in the Vibe box from its internal amplifier and runs the wires from the PG amp to it. It will probably involve drilling a hole int he box and sealing the hole after running the wires from the amp to the woofer. To be honest you are beeter off ditching the Vibe box for a passive woofer/pre-fab box combo

First things first... that 8 gauge isn't even enough for the Ti500.4 on its own! For that amp to work properly it needs its own 4 gauge feed! I wouldn't recommend running 8 gauge unless the wire was only a few feet long. Hell in my large car I feed my 500.4 a solid 2 gauge wire.
Have a look at this picture for the minimum wire gauges:

Don't forget the Ti500.4 is quite underrated so it really belongs in the 600w category at least.
I agree with Zak about the vibe box too. You could make it work with the PG sub by installing a speaker terminal on the box, but why? Considering the quality of the Utopia and Ti amps, the Vibe is total bargain basement flea market gear by comparison. It would be like a 1.2 Vauxhall Corsa amongst Porsches and Ferraris! Sell it, and buy a good brand of subwoofer and a prefabricated sealed box, then use the Ti500.4 to power everything! You will be much more satisfied with the results!

this might be unhelpful sounding too...but unless the vibe sub can be wired for 8ohms bridged, you shouldn't run the pg amp with 8 gauge anyway. it can pull a surprisingly large amount of currant
so, what voice coil configuration is the sub?
the ti 500 can run all the channels with just the front rca's so you are fine in that regard
as zak mentioned, you just need to disconnect the vibe sub, and run just the driver leads to the pg amp.
i know this isn't what you want to hear, but i would at minimum run another 8 gauge cable for the vibe amp.
you already spent some decent money on utopias and a ti500.4, dont compromise the systems potential by skimping on power cable

Omg not drilling my car again

. mr halfords recommended that cable

pff. and the sub was just an impulse buy as i was broke from my first purchases.
ok understood i shall by some new 4awg.
I found it hard to find good infomation on a sub, any recommendation would be helpfull. I can look at focal access line for a sub i guess, or save for a few weeks. Orrrrr give me a specific sub to hunt down on ebay that will go with this amp.
Ditching the vibe then.
Thanks for the fast help

Hey,
So i have the money now for a new sub. I found this one
-
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PHOENIX-GOLD-RS ... Enclosures -.
Would that work with my configuration which uses just the Ti amp bridged.
Cheers

Yes. It will work assuming you have 4 gauge or higher running to that Ti500.4
