It happened 3 times now, so i was kinda wondering...

Sometimes when i get in my car, start it and put some music on, the subs are not kicking in immediatly... If i go for a ride, let's say 5 minutes, it will slowly start to play until it gets as loud as it should. The level of subwoofer sound is augmenting until full capacity.

The first two times this happened, i didnt used the car for 2 days (weekend in fact), we were using my girlfriend's car. But this morning, for the first 2 minutes, the sound was like halfway to full loudness, and gradually came to the correct level. It didn't bothered me at first, but just now i had to make a trip to get something outside, and the subs were not playing at all. It took almost 5 minutes before starting to play...

The amp does get power, and is not in any protection mode. My other amp works just fine. Did someone already got this problem?

RCA are good, i tried them on the other amp and it was working no problem. Subs cables are good too, i get 4ohm reading with a multimeter and they work with the other amp. The only thing i could see is that my remote cable is jumped from one amp to the other, but the two amps are getting power...

are you running rca direct form the deck or using the rca out on one amp?

Direct from the HU, but i have a Y splitter since my HU only have one RCA. The first trouble i had was with the Stinger Y i bought were DOA, so i bought a generic one from an electronic shop and thoses work well.

It feels like the capacitor on the ZX475 are ¨charging¨, and when in full capacity the output is at maximum, weird...

i would guess something to do with load it take time to warm up and do what it is to do ... just me sorry i don't know who to work on these

a 1 rca head unit?
what kind is it?

It's a Lanzar unit, don't remember the exact model, would have to search the manual.

There is 2 RCA out for front, 2 RCA out for rear, 1 RCA out for subwoofer, 2 RCA out for video out and 1 RCA in for video in, plus all the usual wires for hooking it up. Don't think it's a HU problem since the sub was working with the kenwood amp, and with the blaupunkt amp.

Maybe it's just a prewarm as stated, i don't know...

something is wrong with your amp dude...
These amps do not require a warmup. With a cap or with out. find someone to look at it or open it up yourself and have a look or send it away to PG.

Ya, there is something wrong with it. I wouldn't use it until I figure it out. If your caps are going out, you don't want a fire This is of course the worst case scenario, but better to be safe than sorry I would think. If the amp isn't getting full power right away, something is up for sure. Something is providing some sort of resistance not allowing the amp to get to full voltage right away, and then for some reason, that resistance goes away. That is strange and a little worrisome

Have you replaced the caps in the amp? It's got to be about 10 years old by now, so they *might* be bad? I would tear it apart and do a visual check on it, it could be obvious...

I would think a bad solder joint inside and as it warms up it make s a good contact, definately get it looked at as it will only get worse if thats the case

Good call! I dismounted the amp this morning, and checked the RCA input. They were ok. Then i saw a not too well looking solder right on the input selector switch. Went back into the car and hooked everything, but didn't put back the top of the amp. Started as usual with very low bass. I took a flat screwdriver and barely played with the switch, bass was going from freakin loud to low. Unhooked everything, took my solder iron, remade all solders on the switch, remade the RCA ones even if they looked ok, remounted the amp, rehooked up, and voila! No more problem! I'll give it at least a week before saying problem's solved, but i'm pretty positive it is! I guess when i was moving with the car, the bad solder made some connection with the vibration so the amp was working until i stop the car, or something like that...

Just found out that the rca connectors are the cause... Does someone know where i can find replacement for the two connectors?

matt might have some...If they are the same as on the eq215ix..I just bought 4 from him a few weeks ago..

Replaced the RCA connectors this morning, i'm not ready to cry victory too soon, but i now have a solid clean bass as soon as i plug the RCA in! I'll check if it works right for a couple of days without trouble, i surely hope so!

So far so good! No bass drop whatsoever since the new connectors have been installed!
