Really Quick, Stupid Question on Sealed RSDC12 Enclosure

Hey guys, I've spent the last couple hours on here searching, trying to find the answer to this...

I know Brian recommends 1.25 cu ft for a single sealed RSDC 12, but is this before or after .13 cu ft displacement?

Just wondering if I should be building a new box, or if I can get away with the totally sweet box I had made for my Fi Q before I decided to ditch the Fi.

The current box I have is 1.37 internal gross, and I usually tend to run about 1lb of polyfill in something that size. If it's 1.25 cu ft after displacement, I should be good to go.

Before displacement... but you can always take up airspace with blocks of wood or styrofoam!

Cool. Works for me! I've got some 2" x 2" that I can just stick in there for bracing.

yeah, the 1.25 was TOTAL, but you should be fine, and more so with just a bit of space taken up with blocks

Thanks again guys. I figured it out, and four 13" x 2" x 2" internal braces will bring me right down to 1.25 cu ft.

That was fun. When I got home, I re-measured the internals and this sucker is actually 1.46 cu ft. Luckily I had enough spruce 2 x 2 to built some bracing all around and bring the box down to 1.25 cu ft.

Funny thing is, when I had the RSDc 12 in this same box, it still sounded pretty damn good in 1.46!! Love this sub, and can't wait to hear it in its proper setting. Punchy punchy.

Probably won't notice a difference. Rule of thumb seems to be that people generally can't tell the difference between boxes within 20% of each other's size. Anyways the bracing can't hurt, and the sub does get a bit cleaner in a smaller box from my experience.
