KAY, the amp in question is a DD M2. here are a couple pics of the patient:
the issues here are obvious...

poor little diode...

slave output broken clean off...

only thing holding the main RCAs to the board is the ground pin...

and another angle of the crispy critters...

all the screws had vibrated out of the end-caps except the ones that went into plastic. hence the broken RCA jacks. they were the only things holding that end of the amp together. and the amp itself? well a well built custom 15" capable of handling 1700watts for hours on end, and a stupid punk kid with the gain AND volume turned all the way to the right. i swear the first time that kid listens to me im gonna keel over dead. these M2s are built like tanks and put out stupid crazy power for their size. i would really like to fix it.

Last I knew Cecil still worked on amps, and would probably be more than happy to take care of you.
Send stipud a PM about it, as I think he has some contact info for him. I have multiple email addresses for Cecil, but don't know if they are current or not.

cecil is currently active at diyaudio.com, he just posted there a couple days ago helping somebody with a ms2125 amp repair.

power wires were never reversed. i installed it, and i uninstalled it. and it was mounted so that it was impossible to get to unless the sub box was pulled. and that was a difficult job in itself. and i could tell it had not been messed with. only thing that got F'ed with in the interim was the gain got cranked. im sure that was one of his buddies.."hey, check this out! i can make your amp even louder!" he just played it so loud, so often it shook itself apart.

i saw that, but i can absolutely assure that the power was never inverted. i have a major pet peeve for stray wire strands anywhere. and there is no way anybody who would have been at that amp besides me could get every strand of 1/0 in those damn terminals without a single stray. i have been doing this a LONG time. i know how an amplifier gets connected. besides, there is no way anybody but me could have gotten to the amp. i made it very hard to access on purpose. it was bolted down in the bottom of the spare tire well with a giant 3.5plus cube box bolted down over top of it. you could reach in there to maybe tweak the gain, but thats about it.valeks1 wrote:Yes someone hooked up the power backwards look at D1 and D2.

this is where it lived for 2 years:

and this was its shelter:

i couldnt get my meathooks in there. he might have been able to reach in, but there is no way he was doing anything while his arm was in there. and there is no way he was getting the box out. there would have been witness marks on the box if it had ever been taken out. and there were none. so, no the power was never inverted. you better brush up on your diode failure causes because there is one you dont know about.

also, to update. i called DD and talked directly to Kevin about repairing it. and he basically told me my friend was feeding me a line of B.S. they wouldnt replace the board. they can definately repair it to better than new specs. he said they have some upgraded parts available now, and do a few tweaks while they are in there. he also said the end-caps coming loose on these is fairly common. they have a better/longer screw to fix the issue. and as long as it doesnt need anything major like a torroid i will be looking at roughly $100. so, if i fix it thats the route i will go. thanks for all the help and interest. i appreciate it! im gonna try and sell it as-is on another forum till the end of the weekend. and if it dont sell, im shipping it to DD.
