advise on new system

Post by todd217 »

im putting together a system for my 18 year old sister. she wants it loud but does not have any cash so im helping. here is what i have so far 12" rockford p3 tantrum 500.2 infinty kappa coax 6.5 for the fronts and a soundstream ref300. i think she is going to get the alpine cda 105 for the head unit. i have never used a tantrum b4 and im assuming it will be stout enough for the p3. or i could build a new box and give her 2 rsd 12s. do you guys think she will be happy? also its all going in a mustang.

The 500.2 should pound the RSd's pretty well.........
Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!

Props for helping out your little sister man! Now do her a real favor, and not just hook her up with the equipment, but teach her to really appreciate it and take care of it!

The T500.2 would power either sub configuration very well. Just make sure that you present the amp with a 4 ohm mono load. For a single P3 that means you would need the dual 2 ohm version. The dual 4 ohm wouldn't be a very good match. For a pair of RSD 12's you would want that dual voice coil (which are always dual 4 ohm).

The Alpine in a fairly solid deck, but if you haven't purchased yet I think you can get a bit more for your money. I would highly recommend a Kenwood Excelon to anyone looking for a great deck at a fair price. Check out the KDC-X494, or if you like the flip-down style you might like the KDC-X794.

You've got a great start and she should be thrilled when you pull all the loose ends together. Don't hesitate to ask any questions that pop up, like how to wire up whichever subs you decide on! It can save you a lot of trouble and frustration!

the tantrum should rock either option pretty well.

i would go with only 1 rsd 12, or the p3.

the pair of rsd's would need a huge ass box, and on ~250 watts, the rsd's are going to thier full potential

she likes the way my and her bf alpines look yes i know thats not they way to pick one. as for the sub i have the dual 2 ohm one. she is after the look and sound like all the kids are today. im trying to steer her right but her bf is not helping. he thought his 1000w sony amp and sony subs in a prefab bandpass box was the shit at one time.
