dreamin in the hospital..

yea I started throwing up again yesteday and ended up back int the hospital. I have been doing some dreamin with all my time laying around and been kickin around ideas of what I want to do on my stang next(longterm). AFter picking up a roadster and a Ti9 elite 3 way set I am lost on what to do for a sub. It seems a little strange to keep my 4 - 8" quarts for a sub when I will hava the Ti9 for midbass in my doors. I could probabyl put a pair of 10s in the same box with a little modifying and I have considered that but again with a 9" midbass I am tempted to go to a 12 or 15 for low end duty. Never ran anything bigger then a 10 myself so I am curious what everyone would recomend? I wll certainly keep pg in mind and if I could hear them then say good/bad, but wondered what people had experience with? I would love to do a cyclone but don't have space for the box, so really want I am wanting is a single 12-15" sub that can have great sq in a sealed box and still jam if I want it too...

I know you love those things and was just waiting to hear your responce. You still say they go lower then the 12s makes me wonder if the 12 just was not in the right box.

If I went with 10s, I would probalby go with a pair of them in the current box. I think that box is approx .5 per side so it would be on the small side of the sealed enclosure recomendations so mabye some poly fill....
just hope I can listen to the new line before I decide to move forward so I can give them a try.

the xenon 10 goes in a 1.2-1.4 sealed box. you might have to PM errin as to why, but the 10 just plays lower then the 12, i think just a weird combo of motor strength to cone mass ratio
sans a cyclone, i have not heard a sub play lower. including rsdc12's, ti15's, and errins pair of idq15's.
i'm not good at bassbox, but maybe we can get some graphs up in here.
i know thay they dont tell the whole story on any sub, but i bet it would give us a good idea

1.2-1.4 is too big for a pair then unless I ditch them in the spare tire hole. It has been years since I saw a 10 that needed tha much air..

1 in that on the roadster should be god for about 135 on music.
yeah, most 12's run on 1.2+....its a very unconventional 10. it has a upper roll of around 60hz. it really is made to focus in on serious low end. it is basically unusable without dedicated midbass....i tried for years lol
so that website is 109 shipped....how about this...if you don't think it rails i will buy it from you. maybe not for 109...but i bet we can come up with a deal close enough to make it worth your while to test it

I will keep that in mind but with a box that big it will mean Iwould have to do some moving. I dont' know if I want to drop 4 8s for a single 10 which would fit in the box i have built. I would rather swap for a single 12 or 2 10 inch subs and that is about all I would have room for as a 2.5 cu ft box will eat my trunk.
I need something that can work with a smaller enclosure I guess. Gonna go check out the requriements of the new pg subs.

damn the new tens take 1.5 each........... Whil I would loveto stick with pg for subs it doesn't look like with airspace requriements like that I wil be able to. 1.5 for 10 just sounds huge and 3 for a pair? pass.........

love the sound of a great 15 or 16" sub. I just tried the 12 jlw6 2 soundstream spl 10" and after being in my wifes car (15" focal 38 spl sub)I broke down and bought a focal kp2 16" sub
they are very clean, small box (1.4 -2.

sealed hit low and have great SQ
I like pg but they have never had a 12 that hit as low(that i could power) as i liked and was never a big fan of the xmax subs
a clone would be cool to bad they need suck a large box
still regret selling both of mine

see if I was gonna do a 2 cu ft box I would like to have a single 15 rather ten a 10. If I move the roadster to the back seat I can put the subs in the spare tire wheel well, not sure how much space is ther though.
anyone have any good sq 12s that require a small volume and can still jam if I want to crank it up?

The 12's are 1.0-1.25. The 10's are .5-.6. For small box woofers they really don't give up THAT much low end to the Xenons.
In 1.2 cubes I would rather have two RSDC10's than one Xenon 10! With the +3dB from the second woofer you would probably make just as much low end but with far more clarity and oomph in the higher bass range.

I agree that if I can do 2 I would like to....
This is all just dreaming like I said, sitting in a hospital is boring. Last time I was here I ended up buying the basscube and eq215IX to keep entertained. I was looking forward to completing their install this week and going to a show thise weeknd but as usual I will be hand-cuffed to my bathroom.........

If I did a 15 I would be taking up the spare tire hole. I am acutely aware of how small that trunk opening is as I remember building a small box for a 12. came out perfect and then when we went to load it in the car we were scared, as it barely fit. You can probably imagine the worry as I put it up the first time and it was like a square block in a round hole. Rotated the box 90 degrees and tried again and still no go! it was such a tight fit on the 3rd time that we had to remove the rubber surround that sealed the trunk to the lid.
Funny enough I have come across a rsdc10 that I will be redoing the surround on and putting to good use.
