flea-market crap IMO
all the new MTX stuff I have seen reminds me an awful lot of Sony Xplod.
but I dont have TONS of experience with it...

Haven't had much listening experience...but the Thunder Elite amps are pretty nice. Definitely not flea market crap.
They do seem to be somewhat expensive though.

i grew up in an era when phoenix gold lanzar and u.s amps where the top amp companys and no one else could compare. when i heard of amps from say like mtx fosgate and joe blow amp company i would say why do they make this junk its total crap and sounds like distortion. really to me all other amps where junk and not worth the junk part's they used to make them so most new amps even today to me are buddy no name peaces of junk.

The MTX of the era you speak of where just as solid. MTX of the early 90's was definately good solid little amps . the first thunder series and the blue thunder are powerhouses, and have great SQ aswell.

during that era lanzar had the world record for bass phoenix gold made the clearest amps in the world and u.s was just getting started. no other amp even showed up on my radar because all other amps were nothing but junk.

I grew up w/the saying, "friends don't let friends use MTX". I lived that for the longest time, until my friend was using a 2300. That thing was sweet. Older MTX is awesome, newer- not so much.

they were one time ok, at best but the last 10 yrs has seen them overproduce junk that you can find at almost any flea market, certainly anywhere online as they will sell to anyone. I have seen pics of their stuff at truck stops and convinience stores for years now....
