Quick question: Largest cable to fit MS Series amps

From your experience what is the largest size cable to fit the following on a MS Series amp:

Power/Ground wire (PG states 4awg minimum)?
Speaker wire (PG suggests 12 awg for bridged, can we go larger)?

I'm looking to go with Knukonceptz wiring for all of the above including interconnects.

you can run power reducers and run thicker wire to the amps if you want to impress. I do not think you will get much of a performance gain but they do look beefy if that is what you are after.

Not in it for the looks, just what the amp connectors are willing to take and not have wire frazzle blow-out.

well if pg states 4 awg I would go with an 18 gauge to power it and then you can be sure the wire frazzly with not be a problem.

I gotta be smart somewhere, forgive me if it is my ass.......... :P

ttocs is a funny guy!

They state 4 awg, but will 2 awg fit?

They state 4 awg minimum 1/0 will fit on a ms amp and I think 8 awg will fit in spaeker connectors.

on my 275's i have trouble getting 4ga PG wire in there- can be done, but need to be a good clean cut and freshly stripped

larger ms amps- think just about the same- but if not- the 4 ga slides right in there- perhaps 2ga might be the number/ga

if they recomend 4 awg, why would you think you can fit something wider and keep it clean? any bigger then 4 and you will have the wire mess you do not want, again unless you use a power reducer which would clean it up but not buy you anything other then cosmetics.

As for speaker wire, you can use whatever size, as long as you can find spade terminal that will fit them... But 12ga seems plenty to me, that's what i'm using for my speakers and my subwoofer connection.

I managed to answer my own question, just took a day of fishing around for wire sizes to play with.

On the larger MS (2125/2250/1000) with block and set screw style connectors you can safely fit 4 awg (minimum PG recommended) with yes a clean cut. However you can even fit 2 awg with a clean cut, but the wire jacket sits outside the boundary of the terminal square block which allows it to move slightly when angled in any direction and exposes the leads inside...not to my liking.

As for the speaker terminals with the same style block and set screw, I could easily fit 8 awg speaker wire, however larger can fit it's just they don't offer 6 awg :)

So it seems I'll be going with 4 awg Knu power/negative and 8 awg Knu Karma SS for subwoofer plus Knu Kasa Silver 10 awg for front components to round things out nicely.

They reccomend 4 awg minimum that means you have to use nothing smaller but maximum I am pretty sure an MS will fit 1/0 I think my M100's will take 1/0 also.

EDIT I just put some PG 1/0 in my M100 it fits perfect it will fit an MS terminal the same. want pics I can show the non beleivers lol.

This was the best response on the page....IMO

the knu power wire is a tad fatter than most 4ga IMO. took a heck of a lot of patience to fit it into my RSD's.

Here is some silver pg 1/0 AWG on my M100

I have 4 other types of 1/0 here if you want I'll show you they all fit.

Here it is the red stuff is alpine 1/0 the blue and silver are from the pg akit1 and the brown is rockford fosgate wire.
Image
The alpine stuff is a little thicker than the rest but still wil fit in the terminal. The others all fit no problem. The alpine stuff also looks a little misleading because its not a clean cut edge it had a QRT1 on it. The 2 PG wires have thicker insulation than the others also.

thx bro.
looks like the alpine is old skool and nice and thick although not tinned to help make it more flexable. the rockford looks good too.
