both equal the same power to each sub only one is a 2 ohm load and the other is a 4 ohm load
aka
1000 x1 vs 500x2
trying to figure out the best way to power my rsdc when i get them

I would think it would run cooler in stereo but it would only be a guess.

no differance, bridged is best for one reason.. you don't have to gain match left and right vc's.

I agree with this. It will run a little hotter at 2ohms, but that's about it. You *might* lose a little bit of SQ as well, but not noticeable.

so i take a little more time with a dmm. i mostly want sq. should i just run at 4 ohms?
little more info. im running the subs in their own box. since i have to still figure out how im going to make 1000.2 and 3 600.2 and 2 xo crossovers plus ti blocks fit in a really tiny gti trunk

Running it at 4ohms shouldn't hurt anything at all, the only thing will be the gain matching as mentioned by marko. I really don't know if there would be any SQ loss running them at 2ohm. But by the numbers, it would make sense that the amps THD will probably be higher running at 2 ohms, comparted to 4 ohms. How much of a difference, I really don't know.
I would probably just run them at 4 ohms to avoid the added heat/stress on the amp if you have the option to do that. No need to generate more heat if it is not necessary IMHO.

Yes, Marko is correct.
For a quick explaination though: When you bridge a two channel amp, each "channel" sees "half" of the load. So with a 4 ohm load applied and the amp is bridged, each channel is working @ 2 ohms.
