bass cube

Does any of you guys know what the knob on the inside of a basscube is for? I know these things since they were made in the 90's, but opened mine up for the first time... and there's that control-knob sitting on the board...
The manual mentiones nothing about it.

It's a potentiometer that programs how much boost is given. +3db boost to +15 db boost.
Edit: brenz you just beat me too it. I was quoting off of that sheet I had copied.
