I think he's talking about the AI-net cables/adapters/system.
Most car stereo usb inputs only accomodate thumbdrives and ipod/iphone. Some of the Alpine usb's won't even work with the apple devices as they want you to use the full-speed opossums cable. To further complicate things most older radios with the opossums cable wont charge the newer opossums and iphones without a 5v charge adapter. About all you would be able to do with an android phone is charge it with the usb if you added it.
I didn't think the 9886 had usb either.
Anyway I love my 9887 I might even get another one for my other truck and demoting my 7875 to my boat and kicking my shitty kenwood to the closet box of stuff.
