First off, hello to all. New to the forum, trying to get back into the car audio scene.
I have an 06' Chevy Cobalt sedan W/O ALL THE PIONEER CRAP. I'm looking to replace all factory speakers and head unit as well as slap a set of 12s in the trunk.
My question is..WHAT TO PUT IN. Already have my Head Unit in mind, but other than that, what do you all suggest for me to look into? speaker size doesn't really matter as I will be making a fiberglass rear deck and front door panels.
I have been looking into the rsdc 12's but the recommended enclosure size has got me scratchin my head. So any insight there would be greatly appreciated.
Aside from the head unit and subs what do you all recommend?
P.S. I am looking for a little more on the SPL side than SQ. but definately gotta have good SQ.
P.P.S. I'm not an audiophile but I am definately not new to car audio.
Thanks in advance guys!

As far as PG goes, I'm a fan of the RSd components and the RSdC subs. The new Ti gear is pretty much a nice evolution of those products as best I can tell so that would be my suggestion, although I haven't used the gear myself so you should probably take my recommendation with a grain of salt.
As far as the RSdC enclosure size, yes you're reading it right they like small enclosures. My pair are in a very close to recommended size sealed enclosure with some polyfill added and they sound great. Tight and accurate but they also go low quite well.
Since you're into SPL, the Ti2500.1 and two Ti12Ds would be nice wired down to 1 ohm. If you're responsible about not clipping the amp, the subs should handle the power quite well long enough for some nice bass to hit.

You should consider running a ported box as well. Will take up a bit more airspace than sealed, but the output gain will be well worth it for you.

I actually recommend the SQ boxes even if you are going for SPL. They play lower and louder overall, especially on low bass. The SPL boxes are only for "one note wonder" boomy SPL installs. If you find the box size (2.5cuft) a little large, we can always adjust that as well, to find a happy medium.
And with this much bass don't forget to get an amplifier and a set of components for the front. No need to do a 4 channel setup, especially in a Cobalt. Good, powerful stereo front components is all you should need for the best overall sound quality.

Ok, so..it looks like as of right now im looking into these:
Head Unit - Kenwood Excelon KDC-X494
front speakers - PG RSd 6.5s
rear deck - PG RSd 6x9s
Subs - PG RSdC124s
All that I need now is some assistance with finding an amp to go with it. Can't seem to find a PG amp for the two RSdCs anywhere. I'd like to get it new if at all possible. Wasn't planning on wiring the speakers up to an amp, just from the H/U.
I plan on fiberglassing the rear deck and door panels, as mentioned earlier. I just finished fixing up the interior with Duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint. went from a two tone black and (my opinion) nasty, ugly, dont want to look at, tan to solid black everywhere but the seats. Just gonna get some solid black seat covers for the buckets and back seats.Anyone have any more thought on some bells and whistles for the car be sure to gimme your input.
I guess I'll also need some input for the enclosure. I reckon i'll go ported. made boxes before but not a ported box. I am familiar with ported, to some extent. But I figured you good people here at the Phorum could give me a kick in the arse in the right direction.
Thanks again guys.
Doh!!!
