SUB FROZE? what should i do?

hey today i was listening to my music and my bass cut out and i check my sub and it is stuck? it wont push in or out?.. it still makes sound but no excursion? any reason why this would happne i been running this sub jl w6 for 6 years and it never had a problem

toast, buy a new one.
screw car audio, I'd rather go fast....errr, wait a minute.

you let the magik smoke out of the speaker. Electronics runs on smoke the same way your car runs on gas with the only difference being that it can be VERY hard to get it back in.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

Actually, the magnet glue probably finally let go and the magnet moved, shifted the voice coil gap and pinched the coil. Take it apart and see, I did a write up in the how to section on how I fixed a pair of pg 8's. I was told it was not going to realign well enough, but I've had no issues with them since I did it. It can't hurt to remove the dust cap and check. You can always buy a re cone kit and fix it either way.
