Installed....now just some playing around to get the sound I want...
The first sound calabration I did the subs came back over powering, I had the vol up to high during calabration...leveled the amps off(that helped a shit load)
2nd try my sound stage was off to the right....easy fix, sit to the left just a tad more
3rd try I lost alot of vol

not sure where it went...My amps were turned almost all the way down....So I gave them just a tad more...now every thing seems level
we will see how it goes......
can tell a huge dif though in sound and the stage..I LOVE IT

I was wondering how one of these things would work...what is your system setup?

it plays a signal through each speaker individually, and then listens to how it sounds in the car, as well as how long it takes to get to the mic. The mic is moved to a couple of different locations and then it automatically sets the time alignment and optimum eq settings.
I just did the same thing with my alpine imprint. The jbl has some more settings then the imprint but they both make a big difference.

jsut talked to the guy I bought it from ....hes an authed dealer so no worrys....
display jack is very touchy is all.... bad solder pad to the pcb board....they went back and glued these and they still dont hold...prolly another board rev soon..
if you have after market head unit just hook up the front right and left inputs then hook your outputs to your amp....
in setup you tell the ms8 what jack# goes to what speakers
I just setup for driver....not all seats..

It's the new JBL integration unit, which has auto-EQ and auto-TA.

EVERYONE just HAS to have one! Every few years there is a new eq that comes out that is supposed to make perfect sound. Seems like they each have a short time where they are popular until the flaws are discovered. The DEQ had its time in the spotlight as well and then fell the to side.
Isn't it similar to the alpine imprint piece, you put a mic in the car and it plays a sign sweep from each speaker? From there it can set the perfect time alignment as well as auto adjust the EQ for optimum performance. I know I was suprised by the imprint process on my alpine, definitly raised the soundstage as well as just made it cleaner/clearer.

its been my experience that there always seems to be some bugs like this that needed to be worked out on almost all of the eq's that come out to save the world. Its like the new 5.0 for the mustang. It looks like a great motor but I would not buy it until it was in production for a couple of years and figured out all the stuff the engineers never dreamed of.

I thought it just came out this year and that is why it was still so hot. We are just now starting to hear how poeple really feel about them. It seems the first few always give a glowing review and then months later will semi-change their stories once everything is updated. It was the same with the imprint that I used. It helped but it is not going to align the planets and make everything perfect like the rock band wyld stallions was supposed to on bill and teds........

It has been a long time coming, but the notorious JBL MS-8 is almost here. Car audio forums have been talking up this digital signal processor system since 2007 when it debuted in a BMW demo car. It reached vaporware status in the minds of many, but JBL finally went live with its April release date and price today.
The first image you posted is just a prototype image in its development stages.

i don't reckon much to it, not flexible enough or high end, i know people who have had major problems with them and also who have gone back to older processors too..
it's very good if you want OEM intergration and don't want the hassle of setting up for months but as a pure high end product it just don't cut it (all in my opinion of course).

it's not a race, building/tuning can take years to get right..
all i'm saying the ms8 is not the be all and end all to processors, yes it's good at what it does and the market it's aimed at.
wonder what the next "flavour of the month" will be?
