What is wrong with my sub & box
Hi All:
I recently installed a cerwin vega 12d2 and Ti 2500.1 and its very strange that the sub have only a little sound and almost no bass at all...
I tried adjust the bass from head unit and also from the LPL44 and its not helping much, can anybody help and let me know whats wrong? Also, I made a enclosure size 16"x18"x22" = 2.8 FT3 Is this too much/big for the sub??

I would ask has the amp worked fine till you added the sub? did the sub work fine till you put it in the box?
do you have the right size power wire? is there a problem with the rca?
is the amp xover to low for the subs?
is the sub moving? is there a break in the wiring from the amp to the sub?

a few questions first...
Is the sub moving?
Is the sub output cable connected to the sub out on the deck or maybe to the "rear" output that could be crossed over high-pass and your amp crossed over low-pass so your only getting the really low volume roll-off bass?
I dont know if the enclosure is ok or not, but any enclosure behind a sub should generate SOME bass as long as there is a usable signal from the deck to amp, power to amp, correct wiring from amp to sub.
even a sub wired at 8-ohms off a 2500.1 should be getting enough power to move it...
are the RCA cables intact - no splits, gouges, cracks, etc...? maybe one of the cable-ends has broken apart internally?

Yes...
As matter of fact all the gear and parts used was brand new, including the sub its BNIB when I bold it!! This is really make me sad and the shop guy say its because the subwoofer was too hard so amp even like Ti 2500 Ti dont have enough watt for it...what the hell was he talking about...

Re: Yes...
i dont think thats the problem! even if the sub can take more power, the 2500.1 should still be able to move it quite a bit!rednike wrote:As matter of fact all the gear and parts used was brand new, including the sub its BNIB when I bold it!! use a multi meter and see how many volts your amp is putting out on the speaker terminals

I have no yet get the multi meter to check it out but here is some update, the audio shop just called me and they told me they use their audison amp to connect to the sub and its working fine?! and I use my friend's sub which is a 12" Hertz is working just fine too, I am really confused now...

Well, Last summer I had 3 Stroker 12D2's in my car all driven by one Autotek MX3000, probably about 1.6Kw RMS. My strokers did just fine, so I'm thinking that lack of power is not the issue. Ar these the old school strokers? Yellow spider on top and pole piece extension? If so, they have been out of production for like 10 years, it is quite possible for a BNIB sub to come out screwed up. I had a pair of brand new 8" drivers that had been shipped and bounced around for 10-12 years. When I got them, the glue for the magnets had broken down and the magnets shifted, neither driver was usable. They felt and acted blown, even though they were not.
I'm guessing something similar happened here, but the OS stroker magnets are bolted down as well as glued. If it took a hard enough hit, I can see it happening though. Anyhow, don't adjust the upper spider, they are set at the factory and are not meant to be moved.
You can get a recone kit for these drivers on ebay, I am not sure what kind of quality it is, but I have seen them there. If the magnet shifted though, a recone kit isn't going to help you. If dust and stuff just ended up stuck in the gap making the voice coil bind, then you might be able to clean it out and do a recone.
Also, for reference, all my stroker's cones can be easily moved by hand. They are stiffer than most subs, but still moveable.
Later,
Jason

plug in another sub or some other speaker to the amp, make sure that your getting power from the amp... its entirely possible that the sub is bad, amp is bad, wiring is bad or signal is bad...
without isolating more, your never going to know.
