well, i am stoked to finally own an old MS amp, ive had a few "M"s, and a few "Ti"s, but this is my first MS. my issue is that i have an 8volt deck, and the MS doesnt like that. it goes into clipping quite early. as a matter of fact maxed the gain on my tweeter amp (no slouch itself), and with the gain on the 2125 at min. the tweets can barely be heard when the 2125 starts to clip. and it clips hard and fast. i can tell from my little 10min. test session it has major balls, and the SQ seems to be there, but i cant balance it into the system. ultimately i want this to be my sub amp, but i need to figure out if there are any mods i can do that would make this beast 8volt compatible? (the deck is a DRZ-9255) any of the techies in here have any input on this issue?

I have used my MS2125 with a pld1 with no problems with clipping.

hmmm, i set the gain to minimum, and it clips at just over half volume. i wonder if the amp has some issues?

The MS's should handle 8 volts with no issues, I'd say there may be an issue with the amp gain.

I've used mine with AudioControl items.....as I've said before, they go up to 10 volts and I've never had a problem yet with any PG amp.

there were so many different rev of the M series that it would not suprise me to hear that while almost everyone did it that this one will not.

i use my ms2125 with a tba and i think it puts out 8v.

The MS amps will clip at less than 4V. If you have a line driver or some other processor with input and output adjustment, they allow you to cut enough voltage to let the MS amp work. In the case of an 8V deck, you have few options other than to put a processor in the middle.

I modify the voltage divider at the input to MS amps to allow them to accept 8V. I have done this for several people and they were very pleased with the results. It is pretty simple to do yourself if you are ambitious.

well i am rather ambitious actually! i am getting ready to tear into this beast and replace the 17 or so year old caps, whats a little more work? care to share the info?

i'd be interested in learning too... ^^ about that mod.
I havge always wantd to get LD in the rig...but never had time...but if i manage to ever find the time, i would like to have upwards of 6-8v inputs available w/o any trouble on the MS gear I have too?!

Yeah I have 3 2125's apart right now what would I need to do that mod to them? Maybe you could do a how to on the subject and post it up in the how to section?

my amp is a REV.-B if that matters. is B pretty early?

yea my rev. b does the same thing i just adjust every thing down to where there's no clipping but im not sure if the amp is at it's full potential and if there are other amp's in the system that can use more voltage then adjustability can be an issue.

I will dig out an amp and see what I can do as far as making up a "how to".
