To see how it stacks up against other similarly tested SQ woofers. We've been preaching these things for awhile, so it's time to see if they merit on paper as well.

B-- your sub review is everywhere. I read the latest RSd sub review on there (DIYMA) it referenced your sub test. I bet you've single handedly sold dozens of RSd's because of your review. Congrats "PG Rep".

He hasnt posted the results yet, but the RSd got so hot in between kippel test he had to let it cool down. He mentioned BL curve and cms had a huge forward offset.

What does BL curve and cms mean in the form that I can hear? Like what do those properties affect and what does a woofer with a huge forward offset sound like compared to one with less?

cant find the damn link it was on kippel's home page...
New revelation my RSd's VC is rubbing in the gap, he said it wouldn't be audible, and doesn't affect the kippel testing. He mentioned how tight the gap was and there is almost zero clearance...so any little problem in manufactoring, misuse, or mishandling of the sub can lead to VC rubbing.

I didn't think it would do well either. There's a gargantuan difference between "sounds good" and "sounds good on paper".
What npdang's tests all comes down to is how well the one speaker manufactured... if he were to do these tests to ten or so different subwoofers, and compile the average across them, then I may start to care more about the results. Obviously this isn't going to happen, so I would take the ratings with a grain of salt.
I did notice the same thing with the voicecoil. This issue was even more pronounced in my prototype model.

Well he said it did so bad, thats hes not going to post the results lol. I do take npdangs ratings into consideration SLIGHTLY for woofers, as with them being in a box and in the trunk doubt the results showing how badly a woofer acts will play a bigger factor....
Now for a home sub in the listening area I will pay more attention to these results, and for tweeters and midranges pay even more attention where any bit of distortion, ect....will easily be noticeable.
Any how I stand by it RSd is a great bang for the buck, and one best woofers in a car I have used. Even though I think the peerless XLS will be the new champ, as I did prefer it already w/ the passive

On that note, I'm scratching my Ti elite sub, and I replacing it with an RSd. I've got it all but carpeted and gave it a test run. Quick impression is not bad at all!! Again, it was a quick test but I was impressed. I can't wait to get it in and broken.
I'm also building a box for a friend for an Exile 12" XP sub so I may do an A/B comparison, and install the one I like best in my car.

I do put stock in the test....it will show how linear the woofer is.
with that said no ones ears are perfectly linear, so you can't expect everyone to like the same thing. Some people like distortion...aka tubes
