Audison VRX amplifiers - Opinions Please

Post by ShockTherapy »

I just picked up a mint Audison VRX 2.150 to try on my components. I've heard a lot of good things about the VRX line and wanted to hear from some of you. If I don't like it I already have a buyer who will pay me what I paid for it plus shipping. :)

It's like new... paid 350 shipped. They still sell them from what i've seen online. I know that thye did away with the VRX line and went direstly from LRX to Thesis. The Thesis amps are friggin bank. As I said... If i'm not overly impressed I have a buyer waiting.

Supposedly it's rated at 2x110 but typically puts out 150x2 so I've heard. I've heard people call the sound smooth and musical which is what I like. We'll see. I will have it in 3 days. I'll install it and give a small review of my findings.

Thanks for the encouragement! Now i'm excited to try it out! :P

As with all of us... We are on the search for a perfect match for our ears. The closest thing I have found for my ears has been the old SS Refernce amps... They just literally bring music to life imo. I've had Zapco, Linear, Arc, Sinfoni... The Soundstream References just match what I like. I'm really hoping this amp shines and gives me similar results. If not I will sell it and just wait to find a nice Reference 500 or 700(original, not S or SX).

I've had a few of these, and those I haven't had myself I've heard in others cars :)

I went from a Soundstream Davinci (one of the early us made ones) to a combo of VRX 6,420 6channel for components and a VRX 1.500 for subs and that was definately a upgrade :) Sweet sounding with plenty of power on tap. Build quality is also excellent, you may end up on a slippery slope ending with a need to get the best ones, the end of line hand polished EX limited ones with all the modules and balanced inputs. At least I did :p

I would hope you love it. They are supposed to be some of the best sounding amps made, that's why I'm going w/the LRx5.1k, which should be here next Wed. I too, have heard nothing but good things about them.

Yeh, I'm pretty stoked. The VRX line are supposed to be pretty awesome. Those amps above make my heart pound. Dammit! I feel like a friggin Car Audio Junky! I'm 38 years old and this still drives me and brings smiles to my face. My ex hates my "obsession" as she puts it. I look at it as a passion. I've felt this way since I installed my MTX Blue Thunder tens with the Butyl rubber surrounds and my punch 150 in high school... I had that running with a punch 45 on a pieced together Pioneer component set. I thought it sounded heavenly! Man! If I heard the setups I have today back then I probably would have passed out.

Yeh... Charlie's the man.

I tried looking for a warranty sticker but that thing had been removed long before I got there.
