with the old blaupunkts that were code protected it was not uncommon to be able to see where someone had scratched the code number in the pull-out sleeve where it was not viewable. Hopefully they do not do thiers like blau or after 3-4 times failed entry it did something internally that would need to be repaired........

9999!!!

factory default setting is 1234, but user can change it to what ever they like! seller did get back to me and is gonna ask the guy he sold if he knows.. would be a shame not to get it running as the unit is mint. still works but volume and tone control are the only features accessable.

Make it a contest for the kids, let them take turns of 500, the one who finds the combination gets a price! Easy £10 in trophyshop solution to problem :D

nice idea but i don't have the time nor patience to punch 9999 different codes in!!

but if anyone knows any special/secret way of clearing the existing code then there's $10 in it for them :D

You would have to be the unluckiest person on earth to have to enter all 9999 codes before you found the right one.

Answer ID66 in the Knowledge Base:

What's the reset code for the Symmetry?

Question
I'm locked out of my EPX, EPX2, or Symmetry CSV. How do I reset it?

Answer
Default Lock Code
The default lock code is #1234.

If you changed your password and cannot remember your password, please call your local Authorized Rockford Fosgate Dealer - preferably the dealer where you bought the unit or who installed it. The dealer is authorized to unlock your Symmetry via the RDAT if you do not remember your code.

Master Reset
Press and hold the #1 function key (top left - large button) on the RDAT for 5 seconds to completely reset the system to factory default settings. WARNING: This will erase all your saved preamp,

I have a buddy that had a symmetry and he used to sell rockford I can ask him if he knows how to reset it. He just started selling rockford again.
EDIT
I just phoned him he said his default code from factory was 0001 and if that doesn't work he is gonna call the rockford rep for me on monday and find out how to reset it.

If there is 4 digits wouldn't that make for 4 times each digit codes as they could be entered in all different orders? so it would be 10,000 codes?
There are 10 possibilities for the first number in the combination,
right? For EACH of these numbers, there are 10 possibilities for the
second number, giving a total of 10 x 10 = 100 possible combinations
of 1st and 2nd numbers. Proceeding logically, there are 10^4 = 10,000
combinations for 4 places

i guess so, i wasn't counting 0000 as a number as there is no such number but from a logical point of view you must be able to enter it so yes 10,000 combinations!

@gridracer, just tried 0001 but no luck..

My buddy will talk to the rep monday about it and send me a message on facebook about it I will let you know what he says. He sent me a link for the manual but it doesn't really help with your problem but if you need to print a manual anyway I can send you the link to the pdf.

thanks, i have the manual but like you say it only says how to change password not master reset, tried holding my finger on #1 button for 5 seconds but all that happens is the unit bleeps fast!

cheers, Mark.

As a last resort, you may want to look inside the unit for a small battery which usually powers the volatile memory (RAM). If the password and other EQ settings are on there, you may be able to reset everything... ...or make your EPX useless.
