Question about my new PG RSD65cs speakers?

Ok so I started my install late Sunday afternoon and didn't have time to do more than the drivers side door on my Pickup. So after i got it done I decided to take a listen. I was very disappointed. It sounded worse than the old paper cone factory speaker in the other door. The tweeter is mounted in the kick panel and you have to put your head down there to here it. Even set on +2db. Now this was running off the Factory Ford head unit. I have a PG Ryval V754 Amp that will send 75 watts RMS to each side. Will hooking up my Amp make a big difference in sound quality even at low volumes, will it also make the tweeters loud enough to hear. I hope the answer is yes because I had high hopes for these components. By the way this is my first install so if these sound like newbie questions thats because they are.

Sounds like something is wrong.
I hear my RSd6cs tweeters no problem at the lowest volume setting on my HU. If you can't hear them without cranking it up, something is broken, not installed, tuned or plugged in correctly.

I can hear them they are just very quiet. Maybe I should move them up into the sail panels. Will the Amp improve my sound quality or will it just make them louder. I'll probably know if there is something wrong once I get the other door installed. I was very careful to get positives and negatives right on the woofers, tweeters and crossovers so maybe I got a defective part.

Unless something is totally blocking the tweeter, the location shouldn't reduce volume to pathetic levels...
The amp should be better on all fronts: power, SQ, enjoyment... assuming you can grab the signal BEFORE the ford amp.

i agree, something sounds wrong
they should still be decently loud on deck power. i have installed about 50 sets of these!
even on deck power i usually end up putting the crossover at 0, and sometimes cover the tweet in fleece to help tame it.
are there any treble setting on the ford deck that may be limiting the output?
maybe double check the connections on the crossover?
another thing to consider, is there a factory amp (not) the deck, but a amp elsewhere?) and what wire did you tap into for signal?
maybe you tapped into a wire that is already crossed over to not have high notes? (which is why you still hear very limited output?

I'm sorry but what did you really expect???? Is the deck even high power?
Install the amp and it'll most likely make a ton of difference. Either that or go back to your factory speakers as they seem to be better

I have the treble set as high as it will go.
maybe double check the connections on the crossover?
Will do.

I don't think so. Its not their premium sound pkg.
and what wire did you tap into for signal?
I just cut the connection right at the factory speaker and used it. My Amp has speaker level inputs so thats where I intended to get my signal from.
By the way this is a 2010 Ford F150 .The factory deck is pretty complicated. It has Sirius/Xm a 6 Disc changer and a thing called sync that lets you use an MP3 player or USB flash drive to play music. GPS and all that stuff, traffic hands free phone ect. It all goes thru the factory deck.

Definitely get some real power on them. Those 24dB/oct passive crossovers can easily suck up the vast majority of the wattage that your stock amp will supply. Even with an aftermarket headunit I wouldn't recommend running them without an amp.

i dont think that is the problem. obviously more power will make it sound better. but that doesnt address why the levels are off

Thanks..I plan on getting my amp in as soon as I get time. It's taking me a little time since it's my first install. But I like to do things myself. It gives me a little more knowledge and a since of accomplishment. I probably was worried about nothing since I've read nothing but good about these speakers.

bfowler..The truck had coaxials in the doors no separate tweeters.

what kind of car is this in other then a ford? Ford like to try and run componants on alot of their systems and i would not be surpised if that was a cheap low range woofer that they only fed bass/mid signals.

i use to run ti tweets/ti mids, and frankly, the rsd comps. to me-imho-, sound amazing-espicially for their price point-i like good solid midbass, the tis were great, but, even active on the mid drivers-never reproduced the midbass notes as i like to hear them- I enjoy the rsdcs by FAR BETTER-unless 1 of the passive xovers is damaged, its probably going to be a vast improvement once ur amp is running them! good luck, and have fun on ur first install

OK talked with a guy today that I think knows what he's talking about. He told me the factory head unit on my truck is probably only putting out about 15 to 20 watts(maybe less than that). He said speakers with that sensitivity rating need more than that to sound any kind of good. He thinks that I may be putting the minimum watts RMS at them to even get them to work. So I feel much better now. I just need to get time to install that AMP! THANKS AGAIN! You all came back with more replies and suggestions than I could have hoped for in 1 night. After I get my AMP on them I"ll post back to let you know how blown away I am!!

i'm still skeptical that that is the problem. i hope that fixes it though.

Depending on how the factory setup was designed, there may have been a crossover placed on the door speakers, which is cutting out the treble as well.

another big problem is that a cross over will eat up more power then you would want them to. It is an unfortunate problem that you get with these.

The RSd mids are very nice. You will enjoy them once properly powered.
That being said, they should sound semi decent on deck power...

I won't write what I really wanted to...... but if it were me I'd do a search to find the answer to a very basic question. Why do people always look to find answers that can be easily solved by themselves??? Does the OP really think his stockers are better than the RSd's? the answer is obvious...no they are not better, far from it we all know that. Why does every newbie want to be spoon fed?

is the answer obviuos? because i dont think we even have a answer yet.
asking why the tweeter level is disproportionately low compared to the mid seems like a perfectly valid question to me.
he didnt say the stocks were better...he said they sounded beter and that is why he was concerned.
plus we arent a super high traffic forum where someone posting topics that have been talked about congests and confuses things.
stryker...are you having a rough week dude? relax mang. its all good
