M25 problem...

Post by Tomppa »

So I had a stupid accident with the wiring and remote on amp touched ground... (don't even ask...)

Anyway it doesn't power on anymore, how much damage I have done? I had a look inside but I don't really understand that much about amps. Anyway I didn't see anything special, fuse was fine too.

I have pics if they help?

Hmmm... odds are you damaged the headunit, not the amplifier.

Disconnect the remote wire and run a jumper from B+ to R. Does the amp turn on? If so, it is fine, and the headunit was damaged.

most remotes have a fuse on them. If it doesn't work you can always use the 12v switched wire to turn the amps on with the key rather then the radio.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

Tried using a jumper, nothing happens... Right now running a blaupunkt amp in the same set. Pretty much rushed to check everything was fine with another amp.

Another thing a bit OT, do you think the m25 would be good for running a xs104svc if I get it working?

open the M25 there should be an internal fuse near the power term check it.

if its still good then you toasted the amp/deck.

Fuse is fine, headunit is fine...

E: So I tried the amp with a power supply and used a jumper for remote, red led "OVR" flashed but then nothing...
E2:For some reason there is around 4 volts from B+ to rem even when the rem is not connected, normal?

that maybe but I said check the fuse inside the M25 not your power cable fuse.

just because the fuse didn't blow doesn't mean that something hasn't blown! you need to start ohming out the mosfets to see if any have blown.
Ti1 headunit (unique)
Outlaw in crate.
2x original shrouded ms2250's.
Route 66 in box + custom m100 to match.
Roadster 66 in flight case
Octane LE in box.
Reactor #186 in flight case.
Reactor EQ232
Ti400.2 AL
AX204A + EQ232 + ZPX2 + TBA set
ZCS6 component set
Tantrum+Titanium bass cubes
Ti12d Elite sub
DD5 + DD10 + 6 Ti blocks!

Like I said in the first post I opened the amp and checked the fuse there.

How do I check the mosfets?

There is a transistor in the remote circuit near the fuse that is probably shorted out. Don't remember the reference designator (Q2?) but it should be a ZTX749 or MPS750.
