JL Audio 500/5 5 Channel

Post by Shinju »

I am thinking about picking one of these up.

Think the sub channel would be more then enough to push a Cyclone at 8hm?

the sub channel is 250rms 1.5-4ohm 11-14v.

you will only have 125 rms at 8ohm for some this will work for other you will need more power.
i have a slash 500/1 with a tantrum 8 ohm sealed pg truck box at 8ohm the 250 is not what i like for sound
very nice amp imo
clean good size and power

if you could find one of the 4ohm cyclone i have only heard of one or two that would be fine
most of my gear is gone :liar:

I thought the rips stuff on the JL meant that its output was the same from 2-8 ohms?
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

I really want a PG Roadster 66 but having a time trying to find one and I am not going to pay a gouge price.

I might just do the JL for now and find a 66 later down the road.

its funny how they went from $499 shipped to NOTHING AVAILABLE! I am not sure how I managed to get in on the last of the cheap/never yet powered but I can't wait to put it to work. They will be here and there if you can wait for a little while, keep your eyes open....

Yeah I am waiting to hear back about that one in the classifieds in the pawn shop.

Just going to be hard to give $$$ out on an amp that has no history.

Straight from the JL slash series manual.

IMPORTANT:
If you connect a load higher than 4Ω nominal
per channel in stereo mode (or 8Ω in bridged
mode), power will drop by half with every
doubling of impedance above 4Ω stereo / 8Ω
mono. If you connect a load lower than 1.5Ω
nominal per channel in stereo mode (or 3Ω in
bridged mode, the amplifier protection circuitry
activates a “safe” mode which reduces amplifier
power to protect the circuitry from failure (the
yellow “Low Ω” LED lights to indicate that this
has happened). See page 10 for details.

Ugh the 500/5 will not be enough on the sub channel.

sorry like i said :idiot: . but if you find a rare 4ohm cyclone you would be fine
I have a slash 500/1 that might fit your bill. but im sure you just want one good amp to do it all
best of luck
i have never heard the alpine in person they look great

Its all good I have a 500/1 sitting here at my disposal.

I just got a PM from a forum memeber about a R66 so I'll see how that play's out :)
