where is the best location for the battery to chassis connection on the frame or on the body? i got 1 ground from the head and 1 pos from the alt but undecided about the chassis. frame rail or body bolt?

I was thinking about where the ground strap for the engine mounts to the body or drilling my frame rail

It depends on the vehicle. I have had some cars that the frame was actually fairly isolated electrically speaking.

So I mounted it to the same frame rail that the amps are grounded to. Seems to work good, no more clipping at loud volume or when I did my windows up. The real test will be the drive to work tomorrow morning. I still only have 4 gauge power and ground wire to the system and will upgrade that soon...Thanks for the help.

wow  , hope your battery is held down tight and doesn't weld itself to that brace that is above it....

the battery fit good in the stock battery tray so it's held down tight. The brace has 1/2" clearance to the plastic cover.

I looked at this connection yesterday and it looks a little rusty so I was wondering if you used some kind of sealant between the connection or cover it with undercoating?

if you do not cover it with some grease it will do that. I use the same stuff that you use on the end of spark plugs myself.

After I was done hooking up the connections for grounds I would spray them with a primer/paint to cover up the bare metal to stop the rust. Unless it was a expensive ground lug then I would just spray a silicon grease or something on it.

couldn't he just put the same covering that's over the cable shown here over that brace?

Exactly what I was thinking :D with some wire ties or just use electrical tape. :D

So you guys really think that the brace is an issue. I really didn't because it's painted or powder coated which won't conduct electricity very well and there is the plastic cover on the terminal. I don't think that brace really does much anyway so I could just remove it but I do like the split loom idea as well... never thought of that. I would think that the grease would wash away from the outer parts of the connection as we get a lot of rain here in B.C. coastal areas. So I will put the grease between the connection and then silicone spray the outside of it to keep out atmosphere and add a split loom to the brace for safety. thanks for the ideas
