what would you install??

Post by kg1961 »

Here we go again.
I just got a call last night and have a chance to buy a minty outlaw 8) . now i own a jl slash 500/1 for sub 500x1watt rms class d 1.5-4 ohm and a 300/2 150x2 A/B

Now if i get the outlaw i have to buy it, replace the caps and buy a lpl...
it is very cool but sure does alot less than the jl amps.
The jl has one of the best xover in the market and doesn't need caps changed

If the diffence in $$ was going to be say $250-300 more than the amps i own would you bother? Im not say this is the cost of the amp just the differnce from buying it doing the work and selling the jl amps.
If we all didn't love pg would we even be talking about this?

I am just running a very basic set up one 15" 4 ohm sub that need 500watts and a set of mb quarts 51/4 that only need 30-75 watts rms. 7" DVD deck with back up camera, center channel (turn on and off for movies)and rear fill that can be turn on and off for moives also 2 pg pld1 as the deck only has 2 volt outs.

Now the outlaw will draw a little more current also 70amp for the m100 side and 35amp for the m50
the jl will draw 50amp for the sub side and 40amp for the highend side.
I know these are the fused amount and most likey never get to that.
Also cooling the M amp get much hotter than the jl's but for some stupid reason i love the outlaw. :idiot:
this is going into my old winter(play around with car) a mk2 vw jetta with a 90 amp alt and Optima gel cell blue top right now

so what would you do :hmm:
most of my gear is gone :liar:

Sounds like it would be a good fit for your system, but considering it is your winter beater, maybe not?

Have you ever done caps before?

Hehe I will be going there before Christmas. I appreciate the offer... but I am always WAAAY too busy when I go back to visit, since I have to see all my friends and family. Will be going up to see the Grandparents in Edmonton over the weekend too.
