I am going to be installing this H/U and wondered if anyone knew how to bypass the parking brake so you can watch Video while driving. I have an add on monitor for the rear so I wont be watching while I drive LOL. Some units you just ground the parking brake wire but I am not sure I have found anything on this newer model JVC. Thanks

what does it say on the instructions? Is there a sequence that needs to be done or does it just say to put on the parking brake?

you should be able to just ground that wire. I doubt car manufacturers changed the way their parking break works, so you should be fine. Pretty easy to test it out anyway.

alpine had a sequence you needed to do with the foot and parking break to get the vid to turn on, not sure about jvc though.

I have the same head unit and when I had mine installed they told me the rear monitors would still work while driving but the head unit wouldn't. I personally don't have rear monitors so I can't say for sure. In the instruction's it says that the video lock only works if the wire is hooked up. I am wondering if that means you will have video while driving or no video at all if you don't hook up that wire. I also want to have the video working while driving so post the outcome of whatever you find out.

The head unit should be here either Saturday or Monday. I am going to put it on the bench and power it through a few cycles using another source to have constant power. I will let you know how I make out.

They will not tell you how to hook it up to see video in the front while driving as it is illegal in most states if not all. I have an add on monitor and I was not sure if it would lock the video function from the whole car. I plan on doing a few road trips with the family so I wanted my son to be able to watch movies in the REAR of the car while we were driving. I will test it out when I get everything here but I may just end up installing it the way it is supposed to be if what Somkey said is true.I downloaded the manual so I will start reading.

They sell a bypass on Ebay for this unit for about 40 bucks shipped but I got a tip from another forum.

Most of those kits are just a SPDT relay that you can buy for 2 bucks and a wiring harness (relay socket) you can buy for another 2 bucks.

Since I am no electronics guru I dont know how I would go about making one if grounding the Parking Brake does not work.

i bought my bypass from ebay works like a charm
i have a clarion 585usb 7" deck love it
in clarion they made it harder than a simple wire like they used to be. its a relay that turn off and one 3 times than it make the deck work

Looks like all I had to do was ground the Parking Brake wire in this unit. I connected it right to the ground on my harness and Video plays while I was driving or at least in gear. I am just test fitting it now but it seems to work just Grounded, I shut the car off and removed the face plate and then started the car again and the video played without asking for the Parking Brake.

Yes after a few days in the car its still playing Video so DEFINITELY all you have to do is ground the Parking Brake Cable.

Sorry to ask a dumb question, but by 'ground the parking brake wire to the dash', did you just take the wire and connect it to bare metal somewhere inside the dash? It doesn't need to splice into anything?

yes, and by parking break wire they mean the wire labeled parking break on the back of the radio, not the parking brake wire in the car. Just ground it out somewhere.

I just purchased and installed this unit and am a bit annoyed that many of the Navigation features are unavailable while driving. For example, you can't enter a destination or Point of Interest, etc. Is there a way to disable this?
