Ti elite X-over differences

I am taking all of my Ti gear apart that I plan on clearing to protect from rust. When I had the top off of my x-overs I realized that I had a light, and a dark circuit board and when they were next to each other, noticed that they had some minor differences. The dark board I think is newer and there is a section near the top corner with 3 diodes, 2 caps a resistor and a transistor on each side. The light colored board has a couple of resistors near the bottom center that the dark board does not. I thought we had heard that some of these light up and some do not, is that the case and this is the circuitry for it?

2nd question is that I have some small rust spots on the edges of one of the x-overs. Would it be possible to sand through the rust and then clear the whole thing and not make it look any worse? Not sure what to do but I have a small spot on the back that I can experiment with, just not sure what to do.

on the 1st question i may not can help much but my ti crossover has a dark black circuit board and it light's up in the middle with the music. on the 2nd question the grain structure of the ti finish may be lost if you sand it and also it may discolor the surface and be lighter after you clear it. :) i know because i tryed to sand out some scratches on some aluminum mustang rims after i sanded them and re clearcoated them it had light spot's where i sanded it and it was easy to see. :)

I guess the question is, what is the Ti finish. To me, it looks like they brushed some steel and then put a satin clear on it and if that is the case then I am not worried. Now if that is paint that they some how texture with some brushes then it will be harder. I do not want to clear over the rust, but would like to protect it from further problems since it will be used so not sure what to do.

im not exactly sure how they came up with the finish but you could probably test it out on the back like you where thinking maybe if you just sand out the rust it may not show. :) but i guess it would be better than just letting it rust more because mine got rusty after only a few weeks. :)

yea the way I look at it, one area where the paint or finish looks a little off will not draw as much negative attention as rust would...
