Okay so for the past couple of months my car audio has been acting like there is a break in an rca. Every time I go over a bump no matter how little I get the dreaded loud as all get out white noise or loud pops. This has happened in the past and it turned out to be a loose screw in the TiDEQ. So I check that and all the screws are still in place. Okay so it has to be a cable issue. I visually inspect all cables and make sure they are all connected. Meanwhile the issue comes and goes, some times between powerups and other times for weeks on end. Today while driving to work the volume knob turns, but the head unit does not register that I did anything! I fiddled with it and eventually the volume starts to go up and down. In other words I could not replicate it consistently. On the drive home it did the same thing! So now I am thinking that the poping was also related to the head unit. I was waiting to bypass it by running my ipod directly to the TiDEQ to see if there was a cable issue that could not be seen or if it was the head unit, but now I am thinking that it is all the head unit. It is a shame because I have really enjoyed the sound that came out of it, but se la vi. I don't know if anyone else has had this occur and maybe it was a loose wire internally on the head unit or not?

I worked at one shop that carried nak and after being there for while I never have owned one and never planed on it. They were always more trouble then they were worth to me as the installer...

As for the popping noise, this is a perfect time for some technical taps. Turn the radio on and start at the deck with just your finger tips tapping around the edges to see if you can isolate the spot making the noise. After you have used your finger tips and tapped everywhere go to you knuckles and tap it a little harder. Don't be afraid to give it a half-descent knock but do not give yourself a bruise either.... Tap the top, bottom, sides, harnesses/cables until you are sure you have given it a good once over.. Now move down the line to the amp or eq and do it all over again working your way down the signal chain until you have tapped that ass.........
