RSd 65cs Db vs. Ti51 Elite Db

Hey guys, given the same wattage, let's just say 150 watts a channel, would the RSd65 components be a lot higher decibels than Ti 5 Elite Components? I know the RSd 6.5" woofers make some pretty good midbass, but it has been a while since I revisited this topic. I have a 51 Elite set for sale but if it doesn't go, I am thinking about using it instead of my RSd comps on my spring install.

yeah, they will be quite a bit louder! they are a more efficant driver to begin with, plus the ti XO sucks a lot of power, plus the rsd's would have more cone area!

I doubt you'll notice a huge volume difference other than the midbass... 3dB or so at most. The elites will handle that power easily, and the RSDs may break up a bit at high volumes.

the main thing is if were talking about 150 watts peak or rms, if were talking peak then the rsd's would work better, but if its rms then the ti5's would most likely work better.

Too bad I'm not willing to mod in some Ti9m's...god i loved those 9's when I had them!

I am not sure I would mind having 3db less midbass with the Ti's since I have been rockin' stock mids for 2 years now and almost anything would be a lot better but I dunno yet.

I would love to use the Ti 5s and tweets with that badace looking crossover, but I was going to run an active setup...and if I blow a Ti tweet running active, it's game over, I'll prob never be able to replace it.

don't worry in 4 years when that happens you will not be able to find the RSD :(

god that is EXACTLY why I try to have an extra driver of each size when I can. I was lucky enough that when I found my diamond three way set that it came with extra drivers just in case. I never did blow anything and still have the extras - anyone want some diamond hex 3 ways? I was also happy to be able to find a set of rsdc 10s (3) and even though I am only using 2 I have the other just in case. I was happy when I found tads Ti elite setup for sale on here and got it and was almost upset when I found a NOS set 3 weeks later for $100 more then what I paid tad but I got that set too. Now I am just going to use tads set for rear fill and if I ever need them I can pull them up front as I am not too big on rear fill anyway.

and of course now that I think about it, it is funny as I have never blown a speaker before, except the ones we wanted too blow and put up to the 110v test....

When i had my old setup in the Colt, I blew two Ti tweets and a 9m at different points, but back then you could still order replacements from PG or find them on a couple sites. If i decide to run the Ti's now, I need to be real careful equalizing, no eq boost for you!

Loosely related question, what is the safest way to test the tweets and mids? 9 volt battery or a dmm or something? If they read an impedence, on the dmm they'd be fine right?

I know man...it's such a bummer.

I wonder what the safest rms wattage for the ti's would be.

best way to test a speaker is to hook it up and play it. Popping it with a battery may not show problems and while a meter should show good or bad there can still be issues that it can't see.

I will be googling as well but has anyone come across any of the Elite 6" mids in great shape for sale on the phorum lately? I know Bfowler has a full set which would be a good investment for me since I have blown Ti tweets before but I can't really spend 250 at the moment.
