Issue with my electrical system...

Gentlemen,

I am experiencing an odd issue with my battery and I thought I'd throw it out here on the phorum to see if anyone has some idea of what's going on. Here's the situation:

I got in my car this evening, put the key in the ignition, and...nothing. No electrical power at all. Nothing. So, I call my coworker to give me a jumpstart, I get my cables out, hook the red one up to the positive post, hook the black end up to my anti-roll bar, and all of sudden I have electrical power! Keep in mind that I have not hooked up the other ends of the jumper cables to another battery. The really odd thing is that my door unlocked when I pressed the auto-unlock button on the key fob. It was only after I unlocked my door that I had no electrical power.

I know it's not system related, but does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Do you have clean battery terminals and tight connectors ?

I like your sig, Homer gets the best lines. e.g. "alcahol, the temporary solution I can live with"

roll bars are often connected with bushings to keep them from making noise so I would not be suprised at all if it is not a solid ground. Try a different area even if you have had luck in the past.

a few things could be going on but as above, check your terminals at batt. Unlocking door lock is very low load compared to starting car, so although car unlocked, when you tried to start, poor connection may have prevented it. putting clamp on terminal may have moved it enough to get a better connection. is there a build up of white powder around terminal ?

it could also be related to a faulty keyless entry system. many car dealers use very cheap systems, even on new cars(less common today but very common a few years back), but this is far less likely than poor batt terminal connections.

I would clean terminals and make sure they are on tight when you put them back on.
