I know, it doesn't exist without pics. I will try and get them up tomorrow. Very happy with the purchase, extremely clean. One with a plexi bottom! With the MS275 I have it makes a complete set. Now I just have to swap out 27 caps on three amps.....

The plan is to do plexi bottoms for the other two and set up a display with the all three rears showing. they are too pretty to keep covered up. Anyway, been working on the deal for a couple weeks and they just got in so I wanted to share. PG rules.

System is:

1 MS 2125 running mono @ 4 ohms into an Audio Alchemy MX 12 sealed 4th order.
1 MS 2125 running stereo @ 4 ohms into a pair of 6.5" Massive Audio RK6's.
1 MS 275 running stereo @ 4 ohms into the tweets of the RK6's.
Alpine 9887 running active on the above.

Should be a couple weeks yet but the car has been deadened and I finished up the deadening of the doors today. Also made the fiberglass mounting spacers and got 1 or 2 installed today. Just have to finish the other side and swap out the caps, mount the amps and will be good to go.

Last I knew, "4th order" meant bandpass box. I sure hope you don't plan on wasting a MS2125 running a sub in a bandpass box.

No, your right. I misused the term. I have a 12 in a sealed box, no ports. Simple sealed built to driver manufactures suggestions on size. Sorry about that.

A few more:

Couple of interesting things:

First. The white one (more recent model) has significantly larger windings than the gray one does. The following is a couple pics. One of the windings on the White and one of the windings of the Gray. The speaker wire is also much heavier on the White one.

The second thing I found, and this was most interesting, is that the gray one has the sides of the board installed and or printed backwards. The speaker terminal on the right side of the amp (if your looking into the back of it) says "Right" speaker but the wire runs to the Left output of the amp. And on the left side of the amp (if your looking into the back of the amp with the connections facing you) the left side of the amp has the speaker terminals printed on the board as "left" but it actually connects to the right side.

I checked the white amp and it's printed correctly. So I don't know if it was just a printing mistake or what but interesting none the less.

Since I have a misprinted amp does it make it worth more????

The two pics are a close up of the print on the board and then a farther away shot to show you which side of the board was misprinted, or miswired.

I know.........almost. Though if I owned an original GT40 I wouldn't let it sit in the garage, I have always been anti-garage queen if you know what I mean.

the internals of the 2 MS-2125's do not look the same. it looks like the white one has quite a few more parts inside. are the serial no's of the amps somewhat close together? or is the white one alot newer? just curious, always looking to expand my Phoenix Gold knowledge. :)

the old grey amp is labled correctly, do not change the wires on the board trust me on this...when u bridge u will notice that it used left positive and right negetive on the panel but will actually be the two red wires IIRC. the reason it looks to be labeled wrong is the revsion before that board had all speaker terminals on one side (see pic below, see amp on left of picture) dont worry its correct. also the white is a later revision then the grey so there will and have been many upgrades to the board. if u look closely u will see that some things arent there on the white one that the grey board has. again dont worry, u will not notice any difference in sound or output.
other then that those amps are prestine and u got a good lot...take care

oh and one more thing u may notice that the grey amps gold plating has more luster then the white one...

I bet that the serial of the white MS2125 with the zero point speaker wires starts with a 5!

cool guys, thanks. I was curious as to whether there might be a slight sound difference between the two. Just in case the white one was a bit cleaner with the updates, heavier windings and such I was planning on running the white one to my mids and the gray one to the sub mono. The 275 will run my tweets. But it sounds like it won't make much of a difference either way. It would be fun to set up an A/B comparison.

Thanks again for the compliments. They will be taken care of. I am going to try and get new caps in all 3 this week. Also building the mounting board for them. Originally was going to hide them but the guts are too pretty so I am making plexi for the two that don't have plexi and am going to back mount them so you can see then internals.

I have a vinyl cutter as well as a bunch of old decals that I could use to copy if you want.

How would it work? You you have to cut all of the pieces individually and then I would install them piece by piece or would they be done on a clear sheet all together? I can certainly put them on individually if that's what it takes. I have installed plenty of vynal before so I am not concerned, just curious how it would work.

Also let me know what it might cost. I would need one set for one of the 2125's and one set for the 275.

Thanks,

Lance

I think the transformers of the newer 2125 could be from a 2250 or a mac500, what are the PS fets marked up as?
