I just figured out why Dr. Stephen Leigh sounded so familiar...

the first time we were in a meeting together, I introduced myself to him, he told me his name and I just havent been able to let go of it, like an itch in the back of my brain. I finally figured it out...

Its a small world I suppose.

Dr. Stephen Leigh was one of the original guys who designed some of the PPI amps (I guess the Art series and the PC class if I remember correctly).

and he was the VP of Engineering at PG... maybe this sounds familiar:

“We have utilized much of the advanced engineering that we
developed for our line of high powered Carver Professional
amplifiers,” stated Dr. Stephen Leigh, Vice President of
Engineering at Phoenix Gold International. “We feel the MPH10K
represents the pinnacle of design strategies and execution for
the Phoenix Gold engineering team for 12-volt products.”

he also worked in the pro-audio division of JBL, one of my other favorite brands...

"Dr. Leigh was appointed Vice President-Engineering of the Company in December 2000. From June 1999 to December 2000, Dr. Leigh was Director of Engineering and Electronics Manufacturing at Esoteric Audio Electronics, Inc., a manufacturer of accessories and electronics for home and car audio systems. From March 1994 to June 1999, he held various engineering positions with Precision Power, Inc., a manufacturer of car audio electronics and speakers. Dr. Leigh received a B.E. and a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from the University of Liverpool."

Dr. Leigh definitely played a big role at PG. The real question is if in fact this is the same dude. I assume you haven't chatted him up since you figured out what was nagging at you. What kind of work do you do?

Probably now you will realize why PPI PC, the original Esoteric / Diamond Audio and PG Xenon amp series look so similar... :D
