Rear-firing ports?

Post by capitolj80 »

Is there anything to gain by building the ports into the rear of the box, firing into the car (seats down)? The subs would still be facing towards the trunk. Thnx :)
what if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?

from all the boxes I've built for competition over the years, experience says it will not be as loud to the ear as ports back, unless you basically seal off the trunk completely, but then you'd want subs and ports forward

so with the seats down, I want the subs and the ports both facing to the rear of the car, right?

If you can completely seal the front of the box from the trunk (using towels, foam, expanding foam whatever you can) facing subs and ports forward can be very loud, especially if you have fold down seats. As well it makes the subs harder to steal.
mine is like this and it gets loud.
screw car audio, I'd rather go fast....errr, wait a minute.
