CDT Audio components or Utopias?

I was curious about these Euro Gold speakers that CDT Audio sells... they are about double the price of the HDs which I have used since 95 in a few different builds, but Ive never heard the Gold Kevlard ones... how do they compare to the HD series, and also to Focal K and Utopia W series? If I already have the HDs (3 sets of 2 ways), would it be better to match a 3 way HD set for the front vs getting the high end Euro Golds?

This will be for 2 VW builds, one is my wife's '12 CC I am putting a ZX475ti on the F/Rs passive, and a 1200.1 to a 12W7. The other car is my 08 GTi and I can go nuts with the amps (see sig), and I have another 12W7, or 12W6v2, or 12W3v2 I can run for the sub... I can purchase another sub but I doubt Ill need 2 12s in a hatchback as Im not 18 anymore.

Oh and both cars have 3 way stocker speaker locations, so Id like to run a 3 way setup. Another final option would be to run 165W3s which was the old version of the No.6 Utopia 3 way setup, but I havent been able to find a used set in over a year, and Im not spending 5k on their new line... lmao. Id have matching 165Ws for either car for the rear doors if I went the Utopia route.

I have heard a set of utopias in a vw- if your into loud, this is not the speaker set for your, unless you have afford multiple,multiple sets of 5500.00 speakers- if your building a purist set up, that will never be driven, and have to compete with road noise, then perhaps the focals are for you- they are cool, and wonderful to see and listen too- if your building something that you hope others will appreciate your build, and component choice, this is probably not the right choice

That was real vague... Lol. Let me reiterate I do not want the 5k dollar ones... I'm sitting on 3 sets of brand new W series which is the older loud as hell chrome basket utopias from 10 years ago... If I did utopias this is whatd I use since I already have em... Friend had a set in his loud 5.0 and a 12 and it was loud as hell... So I think I'm good if I use two pair per car.

Just not sure to go that route or CDT or TI Morels... And what amps to run to any of those..

between cdt and ti/morels there really isn't much comparison IMO.

hey, i run cdt es 3 ways es o4 es-010 es-06+ with center channel and imaging tweets!!! its unreal the sound stage is amazing so high and up front!!! the amps im using are alpine 3545 to run all mids and tweets.the other amp is a alpine 3558 bridged to midbass runnig active!!! i had the hd line,the es line is amazing.clear and loud as hell sq is amazing also.im so happy i would nt run anything else!!!.make sure you have alot of power they love it!!! The alpine 3545 is the best amp i have tried for the cdts i have been thur so many amps phx gold 2125 zx 450 ppi pc4800 soundstream ref 500 zapco z600cs z3002 studio 300x.ALPines made in the early 90 are the best to me!!!!

Thx jason... Do u like the 3545 more than ur 3558? I dunno what a 3545 is but I sure as hell know what a 3558 is as I have 2 in my Porsche and a spare since they break often. Lol. Sound is unreal, think accoustics in the car are key to the sq though..

the alpine 3545 amp is a monster 250x2 at 12volts. luxman made them and the 3558 in the early 90's. go to amps guts and look inside its crazy in there lol!! i have had no problems with mine running it bridged to my es 06+ midwoofers. the sonics is amazing on the 3545 best mid high amp in my book!! I have tried them all too!!!

If u wanna get another 3545 and sell the 3558 ill buy it. I'd love to have another setup with two of em installed..

Focal KRX3 components.... plenty of volume and very crisp! YOU listen to every choice and let your ears decide. Alot of speakers sound good....sitting still, but most SQ speakers lack volume or only sound good "on-axis"....(home speakers??) Its the off-axis great sound you want!!

don't get me wrong the cdt's are nice but I just bagged my diamond hex for the ti elite. The full-size woofer almost puts it in a different relm imo.

Google is only way I find anything I'm looking for and lots of reading through old ads go find recent ones...
