				MS and M capacitor replacement

				Hey guys,
I have a quick question regarding the replacement of capactors in my MS- and M-series amps. Do I need to replace all the little bitty caps as well as the power supply/rail caps? I have read the threads in the FAQ/How-to section and see no mention of this. I'm trying to figure out what it's going to cost me to re-cap an MS-2125, an MS-275 and an M-100.
Thanks!

i would just do the psu caps unless there is any signs of damage to the rest ie- film shrinkage and leaking or swelling. generally it's just the psu caps that need replacing but it wouldn't harm to swap them all out..

Thanks. The caps in the M100 are definitely swelling, but no leakage. No leakage in the MS2125 either but I think the big caps are starting to swell. It's hard to tell since they have been covered with a PG sticker/blue plastic wrap.

What you mean by "film shrinkage"?

Ever dive into a cold pool? That's shrinkage.

The plastic film around the capacitor shrinks due to prolonged and/or excessive heat. Those look fine but I don't think they're original units for an M. They may have been done already.
Slide a cigarette paper under the cap and check for residue - leakage. It's a good insurance policy to replace them anyway.

HH,
These caps are in my MS2125. I've had it for
at least 10 years. It looks like just a sticker on the top and some heat-shrink plastic around the body of the cap. I slid some paper under all the caps on all my PG amps, and none are leaking enough to dampen the paper. I did find a few drops of clear liquid around one cap, but couldn't find any more.
