M25 Red Overload Light On Instantly

Hi i have just bought a trio of amps 2x M25's and an M50.

One of the M25's,i was told was instantly showing the red light on switch on,so before testing it i opened it up(its a series one) had a look at it and apart from a bit of a dodgy earth(i have resoldered now),it seemed ok someone has replaced the capacitors that usually leak at some time.

I also opened up the other M25(SERIES TWO) to see if the capacitors were ok and see if both amps looked similar inside,i noticed that the speaker cables(inside the amp) on the the series two were wired up diferently to the series one,so i checked on google(images) and the series one was wired up wrong.

So i then swapped them to how they should be,put it back together and then tested in the car.

Still showing Overload-Red Light Indicator, instantly on turn on.....it says in the manual you would get this light if "the amp has passed more than 8amps of current in the output stage" or "passed more than 250watts total RMS!

Only thing i notice that is a bit wierd is that on the underside of the circuit board there are four wires(2 pairs) about 1cm long soldered across the board i was going to remove them but thought i would ask before doing something to dumb

So if there is anybody who could give me some advice or reason why that light is on all the time it would be great.
Could it be because the speaker wires were wired up wrong(inside the amp).

Thanks Dave

I posted this on diyma and they suggested i pop along here as there are some Phoenix Gold Geniuses on this phorum

overload light means something is blown really, someone soldered the jumper wires on for a reason, I would leave them alone for now until you find out what they are for!

nice buy by the way, think I had a sneaky bid on them but missed out!!

Mark.

Thanks for the info...actually managed to fix it...opened it up again and was going to take the caps off and put them in the good one,i noticed that they(the caps)didn't seem fixed properly so I re-soldered them,Put new power and earth cable's on as well.
All good now no overload light  .
And sound comes out of it as well :D

I thought the price I paid(£130 delivered),was really good for what they are..

So why do they have the jumper wires on the back of the board?

PG made lots of revisions over the years, and especially the earlier models had lots of "adjustments" like that. Nothing to worry about ;)
