some more Ti hangups...

Post by Wrennagade »

So I hooked up my 400.2 and although it seems to work (pushes sub, knobs work, etc) the 3 LEDs on top don't light up and the amp makes a high pitched sparatic, morse code noise in phase with the music. The sound is coming from amp not the fan. And I hooked up my 800.1Ti that I have (craigslist find) and although it lights up the 3 LEDs, no thermal or OL lights come on, it doesnt make any sound at all. I looked inside it and there was some dried crusty grey stuff that was on the inside of one of the windows and on a small green capacitor. I am hoping I can replace that cap and that is the problem as I didnt see anything else wrong on the board. Any thoughts? thnx :?

you will probably need to replace them all, not a big deal on those amps.

Replace all the caps? Should I just look at the existing ones and order matches from digikey? I know I can get beefier ones and would like to figure out which ones...not sure tho. DMNT88 said height was about the only restriction.

So I tore the 800.1 apart and found all the FETs are fried. Ordered them from digi-key but can't identify two other parts that look a little questionable. I sent Valeks a PM but he ain't responded yet. I'll post the pics of the components if anyone thinks they can help me out.

Yeah that sounds like transistor problems to me. The green solid state caps are not known to fail, only the power supply input caps and (very rarely) the huge rail caps.

Well I ordered all the fets that need replaced and went over to radio shack and found out the other two parts are a voltage regulator and a cap. Not sure on the cap as the numbers on it are hard to figure out. Its one of the sky blue colored ones and I need one for sure. If you guys know what cap this is please tell me as this is the last hangup I have! Im gonna replace the fans worth light up ones as well which I think will b pretty bitchin ill post pics when done wroth repair. Just need cap specs!
