ZX500v2 pushing (2) 12w6 oldschool 6ohm DVC?????

Post by rynfarrell »

Hey guys. Someone over at DIYMA recommended this site to me for getting a question I have answered. I hope yall don't mind helping me out.

Anyways Ive got two oldschool 12w6's that are 6ohm dual voice coil rated for 300 watts RMS. I'm wanting to push them wired at 3 ohm each with a ZX500v2 I just picked up.
Would this amp work ok for these subs? How do you recommend wiring them?

Thanks a ton. I use to have a full ZX system back when I was in high school and it is still one of the best systems I have ever heard! =)

Run each sub with the VC:s in parallel (3ohm) to one of the amp's outputs. At 3 ohm the amp will push at least 2x200W. Two twelves with 400 quality watts will pound nicely, especially if the subs are suitable for large vented boxes.

If thats not enough power, find a kilowatt monoblock to run all the VC:s parallel (1,5ohms). This may be needed if the subs sit in small sealed boxes.

Ya they are in a sealed box so I might just use the ZX500 on my midbass. I have my eye on a ZPA 0.3 with a line driver that should work nicely.
Thanks for the help!

Any other amp suggestions would be awesome =)
