8s up front!!!

I have to admit, I love car audio. My drive to work takes about 10 minutes, so I take the super long way to make it 20 minutes. My system is pretty simple, ZX600ti to a pair of JL 10W3s (haven't found a pair of RSDC 12s yet or made an enclosure for my cyclone). A ZX500.4ti front to the RSD 6.5 comps and rear to stock 6x9s in the rear. I have some car audio just laying around, so I decided to test out some NIB Helix shallow 8s up front. I made a ghetto enclosure, duct tape and the cardboard box they came in and hooked them up to the rear channels of the 500.4 at 2ohms stereo. I put the 8s on the front floor and adjusted all the crossovers on the Alpine 9887 and the rear cross on the 500.4 so the 8s get 60-150hz.
I am hooked! Even in the cardboard enclosure, guitar strings and vocals sound full and it seems there has been a void in most car audio I've heard. I thought the 10s would would work with a simple 3 way set-up using the RSDs to play everything from 100hz up. I even went as far as giving the RSDs a small enclosure in the doors. Really, the closest thing to a killer SQ set-up was a T-bird with ID horns, 8s in the kick area and 15s IB tuned with symmetry. I am pretty excited to see and hear the cars at the up coming USACi meet locally. Maybe I'll be able to listen to a great system and be able to work from there.
