has anyone done this before
i want to run a 12delite off a zpa 0.5?? is this possible or will the amp just run to hot at 2ohm
no too bothered if it wont work as its going in my work van instead of being sat under the stairs in the box

Two options:

It will switch to low impedance mode, and you will get about 800-1000 watts or so.

You can mod the amp to stay in high impedance mode, and get up to maybe 1500 watts or so.

Either way it should work if your gains are done properly, and you have a robust enough power system.

to do the mod i just snip the 2 resistors
engine is diesel van and 0 gauge running through should be enough

yeah i did it for about 4 months.

it will pump but make sure you have a robust pwer supply
cause that amp is gonna pull some current.

I am contemplating buying a ZPA 0.5 to do exactly this....run a single :TI12d Elite. Is this "MOD" something that a fairly mechanincally inclined novice can do or is it something that should be left to the professionals? :?

Easy as it gets. It's a bit tricky getting to the two resistors to cut them. I did it to my ZPA0.3, not sure wether I'll do it to my ZPA0.5

Does anybody have the schematic to show the two resistors that need to be snipped to perform this mod or can someone provide a linky please :D It would be most greatly appreciated.

Well I am about 12 deep at this minute, but that could all change in a few days. And i know of about 18 more coming over the next month and a half 12 from Norway alone, so PM me and I will try to work something out for you. As during this time of the year I work till I drop and rest a day then start all over again and do this till the season drops off... You know I love it !!!! :)

oh this is just forum folks, my walk ins are still coming in also and my locals are always around so numbers get tall this time of the year. I got 4 leftover from Sunday after doing 4 other and delivering two others, so about 4 to 6 pieces a day average and more on all day runs till I drop...

Its sorta like being a carny person all my work hits when it gets hot, and its peaking just now. But by the time you ship them off the island to me here in Cali things will be completely different. I expect this every year so its nothing new, and I can most probably take good care of you in a week to 10 days <when they get here> as things that are here now and planned will be done and gone back to my clients. I try to give good service as people hate to wait for things. the only thing that suffers in my sleep patterns, as they get shot to hell and back and I start losing track of what day it is.
Then I flop for a day and sleep, and I'm good to go again for a while 8) . If you want them done now I can make room by moving others around a bit to accommodate your needs. Just LMK and I will work it out for you :D

Oh I never say no to doing what I love to do, so please don't think its a problem :P . My mother knits, I fix amps, its all the same we both stay busy and we both enjoy it enough to actually keep ourselves calm and level tempered by our activities.

I used to have a couch at my shop but I would never come home except on Sunday to rest and enjoy my folks and then go right back and keep at it
People would drop by after hours just to have a brew and shot the breeze for a few hours < all night>. Kind of made it tough the next day but I was a lot younger back then  LMk my friend C :)

So I am assuming it is the two small one under what I am caveman like going to refer to as the long black chip looking thingy. You guys werent kidding when you said they were hard to get to. Thank again brenzbmr@sb it is much appreciated.
On another related note. If you are running two zpa's and wnat balanced lines to both does it require two tbat2's or can you "split" the line somehow. I downloaded the manual off of PG's site and they refer to some splitter but have googled the shit out that model # and have come up emptyhanded.
If two are required Cecil, can they be easily repaired. I have a line on one NIB and another busted (wont power and doesnt know why)from same person.
Thanks again guys.

You should be able to use a CAT-5 splitter to send the same signals to both am ps, it will look sorta like a phone cable splitter. And Yes i can repair Tbats.

Just LMK C

So are you removing the low impedance restriction from you amps ????

You can either de-solder them or snip them leaving some to reconnect with solder. they are simple signal diode so they are easily replaced by any tech worth his salt. i stock about a 1000 of them as this is the average amount i buy when i shop for them, pretty common part..

I want to do it only on the 0.5 to run a single ti12d elite and leave the 0.3 as is. From what I have read here that is the way to go to get the most out of the 0.5. Pleas correct me if I am wrong. I understnad the power consumtion that it is gonna suck and am addressing that issue as well in the car....ie....extra battery and BIG 1/0 wire...big capacitor..are there any other concearns....heat.....premature failure...that I need to address as well.?????
