Need a lot of advice, starting with 3 ms2125's and a 215x

Post by poljana »

Hi PF, it's been a long time since I've put a sq system together and I'm badly in need of help. I sold and installed a lot of the phoenix lineup through the early 90's but have forgotten a lot of it. At the time I had 1 ms2125 and two 12W6s in a ported box in an Eclipse back in 93" where I got 146.8db at the glass. I also had some boston acoustic components and a nakamichi amp up front.

Basically I want to have the same amount of traveling bass and some real nice sq components. I have 3 ms2125's and a 215x to start with. So I'm open to all suggetions.........sell one of the ms2125's whatever it takes.

Please recommend a pair of hard hitting dc 12's that I can use 2 of the 2125's with bridged.
What amp and components for front and rear, (6 1/2's) one of the old school m or mq amps maybe?
Enclosure style for a sedan?
Can I still find zero point wire? rca's, speaker etc.

My budget isn't crazy but I don't mind splurging if I get the results I'm looking for.

Thanks for any suggestions and help.
Ed

hey todd, the car is my toy so the entire trunk is available total size of useable space is 32x32x17 plus or minus a few inches depending on mounting locations for the gear.

I have around $1800 for the subs and components plus what I can get for an amp or 2 that I sell. If I have to reach a little deeper into the pockets I will, it might take a little longer for me to get the funds but that's no problem I'll piece it together and when it's all complete, then I'll do the install. Winter's just around the corner anyway so I have a good few months to put everything together

Thanks again I really appreciate your time.

ok 1800 makes it easy. at sonicelectronics you can get idmax 12v3d2 for as low as $265 shipped so thats only 530 spent. i would put a ms2125 on each idmax. that leaves you plenty for comps and getting the ms2125s recapped.
