just go a big box of goodies from James. Now I am having my air tanks air brushed and while I'm at it I thought I am going to get all my amp covers and stuff painted as well. removed the cover on the Ti 15frad powergrid and seen this. now I can clean up the corrosion on it, but not sure how far the corrosion goes into the block. should I be worried about that or just clean what I can see and put it back together? the block is cased in rubber and I cant really get inside it. I'm sure it works and all as James has been a stand up guy with everything I have bought from him. jsut want to make sure I have no issues in the next few years that I will be using this in the car. thanks guys

its a 15. I heard the 20s are the ones that had problems

prettysure that once its that corroded on the outside, you can count on some being inside as well.

its a zero issue- just use some scotch brite and clean it up, its is not a big deal- I have 4 of these things, and its just what they do- the cap is perfectly fine- worst case is the terminals get eaten away, and the 'strap' touches the case, while your in there, glue a matt (rubber piece), underneathe the positive terminal area- pg should have done this, but like many things they should have done, they didn't follow the engineering of 'what if'-

but they all can cause fires

and cause some funny electrical problems in rare occasions.

ok thanks for the info guys. I take it not alot of you use these? I thought it would be as good as doing a second battery

capacitors store voltage, batteries store amperage, amps like amperage.... I am going with two batteries in my current install. Considered one of these but they just do not last, do not add that much so in the end I could not justify it.

the argument is endless- they have a use and serve a purpose- kinetik tries to say there 600 battery is the equivalent to 100 farad cap- thats a crock of shit- I have a shit load of kinetiks, and with out my caps, I would have an issue- I think I have 8 kinetiks now, 4) 15 farad alumapro products, and a stinger 50- with 11 amplifiers- buddy has a 200.4, and a 100.4 in his escalade, and one of my kinetiks in addition to his stock battery, he has ridiculous current issues, and I have 0 issues-
At the very least you have one cool distribution block, and if nothing else you have a piece of equipment that was very expensive, and relatively rare- most everyone that dismisses caps- 'real caps', never really ran one, just repeating internet myth and aurguments- there is a reason that alumapro still makes a 50 farad- 1300.00 cap- PG bought the hype, so much in fact that they continued on to make the ridiculous power grid' tantrum product- AGM batteries came out which changed the world a bit, moved batteries into the cab of the vehicle- no gassing, and smaller footprint- and I would say they pretty much destroyed the need for the ridiculous 1 farad cap market, that everyone was into-

Dave knows his shit and have run several of the PC15's in my Camaro with an Optima Red Top under the hood and Kinetik 1800 in the rear and never ...ever ...had an issue . The corrosion is common and is easy to fix as Dave said and the rubber piece under the copper bar and under the positive connections is a must in case something breaks free and touches ground (sparks are a baaaaaad thing). The PC15's are great pieces and do what they're supposed to do. Use your best judgemnet on what you're trying to accomplish to decide on how to set up your power / amp / current needs. Just my .02c

you mentioned that you and your buddy have upgraded batteries, what about upgraded alternators? I too have also never had current problems but I would hope not with a 200A alt.

will be running two Ti 1000.2 and two xenon 200.2 also have two compressors in the back for the air ride. I'm going to use it. I have a yellow top in the front and did 0 gauge big three upgrade. might go for a HO alt later

you will need one with that much current

with out a doubt..... Adding caps/batteries is great and all but if you already have a high current demanding system with amps/compressors, if there is nothing left to charge them then you are just adding another load on the already taxed alt. You should get a HO alt BEFORE you add the caps/batteries. You should get an alarm before doing all of this. People get into trouble when they buy the cart before the horse and think that pushing it down a hill is the same thing as having a horse to pull it. Yea, it will work, for a little while but probably end up costing you more in the end.

I have an alarm already. and yes the HO alt will be installed with everything else. car is all gutted and is missing almost every body panel right now. also sitting on blocks. I am trying to do a full out show car since it is not a DD anymore

I know the feeling. Be sure to get your sound damping while the panels are out. I just got an add that the new alphadamp will be on sale %30 off monday if you need some. Nice stuff but not cheap.

humm can you pm me about some of that? I dont have any in the car right now. would love to do the trunk, front doors, and rear floor area.
