Here is what I have planed for my daily driver...
Pioneer premier FH-P800BT
Tantrum line driver
Tantrum bass cube
EQ215i black wrinkle
Tantrum MX2 to handle mids to tweeter crossover duty.
Tantrum 250.2 to RSD tweeters.
Tantrum 500.2 to RSD 6.5" mids
Tantrum 500.2 bridged to a TantrumX 12 sub.

What do ya think ?

EQ215 in black? Are you sure it is not an EQ215ix? I never heard of an EQ215 in black, but that does not mean they did not make them.

With the voltage your head unit has, I don't think you need the Tantrum line driver.

Yeah, The head unit has 4v out but I figure that is max out.
I am going to put the line driver under the dash to put a strong signal to the back of the car.
I just looked it is a EQ215i not the EQ215ix. I have one of those too. both black wrinkle.
The crossover in the ix does not have the 10x multiplier like the MX2
I forgot I have a Kinetik HC600 for power reinforcement.
I also have a 1Farad Ti series cap. if you think I need it.

scrap the cap and you will be fine.

After A LOT of reading, I now have a new, final stand concerning EXTERNAL caps. I share my findings with one of the writer/reviewers from CA&E magazine. In that...
Regulated power supplies and SPL systems = NO External cap
UNregulated power supplies and strictly SQ systems = External cap

Reason/s,
In a regulated power supply an external cap is just short of pointless. Most regulated amps will produce the same output from 11-16 VDC.
In SPL Systems, a 2nd (or more) batteries will be of more benefit.
In unregulated power supplies, the voltage can/will drop, the addition of an external cap can/will help.
In SQ systems, the filtering of the DC ripple could be of importance.

An external cap doesn't present as much of a load as a 2nd battery, nor the cost.

So I will ask, as I'm unsure, are the Tantrum amps regulated or unregulated?

Either way, I think you have the beginnings of a great system.

I have 3 215''s in black- they definitely made them- seems like overkill on power for the 6's and the tweeters-

Can you post a photo? I have never seen one before and I wonder how they look.

As for the cap, install it and use it. If you don't like it, then remove it.

As for the line driver, my fear is adding more equipment than you need just adds more noise. Since your head unit is good at 4V, your next processor in the chain (the EQ) will get plenty of signal. Going from the 4V head unit to 8V of line driver is not as drastic as it may seem.

I am using one in my system but only to seperate the low-pass that wll then be fed into the Ti9s(50-160hz) I am running, the Ti x-over that came with the set will do the rest of the work.

That's a EQ15, we're talking about EQ215i or ix.

The EQ215 and EQ15 are the same thing.

I thought the "i" added the time delay on the aux output and the "x" of course had a cross over built in?

I know they're the same, but the question or debate was, did they make a black LABELED EQ215i?

As pointed out, that is an EQ15, not an EQ215.

I still would like to see an EQ215 in black, as I have never seen one before.

This is the closest I have seen, but it is not an EQ215, and it is really not black...

A little. But it will add up to headroom. I will set the gains so it stays CLEAN.

Here is mine. It's a little dusty and has some wear on the graphics.

Well, does anyone have a photo of a black EQ215? Or were they never made?

So it was just a EQ215 w/o the i or ix? That was my bad, but I understood what Eric was asking.

I have always thought that the EQ215x/EQ215ix were one of the most useful processors ever made. A 2/3 oct. stereo EQ with a good xover section and LPL port. Brilliant product! :)
