What is the deal with the blue/purple Sapphire amps? I am been looking for a match for my SA1.0, but all of the ones I am finding are white. Are the blue/purple versions more rare or an earlier model?

Interesting. My white sapphire amp says rev A on the board, but my blurple ones are reV B and C. I always assumed the white one was the oldest.

not that I am aware of. I bought it back in the mid 90s. My board says Rev A.

You don't see many gold plated circuit boards in entry level amps these days! Not even in Elite amps. Them sapphires are not triple darlington i assume. Are they mosfet or what?

Looks like mosfet

I don't know a whole lot about these amps, but they look to be pretty nice.

I think that is triple darlington actually. It looks to be the same general build and quality as a M25, but in a much nicer configuration (I don't like the loose wires in a M25, and these sapphire amps don't have that issue).

I've noticed the 1.4x and 1.5x do have the loose wires, but the 1.0x doesn't. It's interesting how OP-amp dependent the 1.4 and 1.5x are. Looks like theres 2 on the input stage, 2 for the crossover, and two for each output channel. 12 total for the 1.4x! Notice the sockets :D

Xenon/Octane were the first series to be made overseas.

Am new to PG products (only used the old school PG, made in USA products) but I've never seen a blue sapphire amp. The pic posted in this thread looks like it was custom painted blue, but if the silk screening on the side panels are original then it might be factory coated.

By the way I have a 3.0x and it has a total of 6 op amps (since its a two channel amp).

This color is straight from PG, they came in white or purple.

Both colors (white, and blue/purple) are amazing. Aslong as the powder coating is well done than the finish product must be amazing. So far am happy with my Xtant 600X1 amp.

i have just one SA 3.0x recently, and was pretty surprized about it's perfomance pushing a subwoofer.....

It even seemed to me it pushed a bid harder then a ms275(benched 279W rms at 4 ohms) on the same sub......

For an "entry amp" and so little, not bad, really really not...... yes it surprized me......

This was my very first amp :D Exactly, 1.4x in blue/purple. I bought it used in 1997. It ran my whole system. 2 10" XS DVC's and sapphire 6.5 coax. Ever since then, i was hooked!
